Princeton lost a heartfelt 4-2 contest against Yale that dropped them out of the hunt for a share of the Ivy League title. Senior Ryan Rich (Yorktown, Va.) scored his second goal of the season nine seconds into the opening of the game. His goal tied an NCAA record for fastest goal in the opening of a game and marked the fifth-time it has ever happened, the latest was Alecko Eskandarian (Virginia vs. American) on Oct. 26, 2002. Rich also assisted Adrian Melville's (Randolph, Mass.) goal.

Senior Andrew Dealy (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored twice and senior Lindsey Williams (Columbus, Ohio) added a pair of assists as Yale ended the season with an impressive 4-2 victory over Princeton on a cold afternoon at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium ... Sophomores James Stewart (Weston, Conn.) and Alex Munns (Des Moines, Iowa) also scored for the Bulldogs, who won five of their last seven games to finish 7-10 overall and 4-3 in Ivy League play ... Senior Geoff Hollington (Bellaire, Texas) made one save to earn the victory in goal. "We've been able to climb our way back to respectability," said Yale head coach Brian Tompkins. "We were definitely a better team at the end of the season than we were at the beginning, and that's always a goal."
The Tigers, who were eliminated from the Ivy League race with the loss, took the lead only nine seconds into the game when Ryan Rich scored an unassisted goal. The Bulldogs, though, answered with three straight goals. Stewart scored his first career goal at 14:06, and Dealy then scored at 39:49 and again at 68:28 to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead. Adrian Melville pulled the Tigers (8-5-4, 3-2-2 Ivy) to within one when he deflected in a Rich cross at 76:37, but Munns sealed the victory for the Bulldogs when he scored at 83:28.
Yale controlled play for most of the game, outshooting Princeton 22-8. Erik White finished with 10 saves for the Tigers.
Dealy, Williams, Hollington and senior captain Ryan Raybould (Leawood, Kans.) were all playing the final games of their careers and were honored in a pre-game ceremony. "They all played really well," Tompkins said. "They demonstrated today what makes them quality leaders and quality players. I'm thrilled that they were able to end their careers with a memorable victory."
