Reigning Ivy Player of the Year, junior Hana Peltjo (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) picked up where she left off last season tallying 20 points and 16 rebounds, while transfer Beverly Moore (Monroe, La.) had 14 points in her debut.

Dartmouth has gotten off to a quick start, going 2-0 over the weekend, earning wins over Maine (71-65) and Army (79-73). Leading the way was senior Katherine Hanks (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), who posted double-doubles in both victories. Freshman Jean Cullen (Janesville, Wis.), who pumped in 21 points in her collegiate debut, went seven-for-12 from the field, including four-for-six from three-point territory.

Juniors Katie Romey (Winnetka, Ill.) and Lynell Davis (Palatine, Ill.) helped head coach Danya Smith earn her first victory at the helm of the Big Red, as they combined for 31 points in a 71-49 win over Fairleigh Dickinson. Romey was five-for-eight from behind the arc, en route to 19 points and Davis fell one rebound shy of back-to-back double-doubles, with 12 points and nine boards.

Nicole Lesko (Jasper, Ind.) hit a jumper with under a minute to play and Susan Kern (New Rochelle, N.Y.) had 16 points, as Columbia earned its first season opening win since the 1997-98 season, defeating Long Island 51-50. Sophomore Edytte Key (Snoqualmie, Wash.) had her fourth career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Eileen Powers (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) hit the game-winning shot in overtime, as Princeton split two games in the Women's Sports Foundation Tournament in Waco, Texas. After falling to host Baylor, the Tigers rebounded for an 82-81 win over Southwest Texas State. Powers tied her career high with 12 points, while senior Maureen Lane (Seattle, Wash.) had a terrific all-around game with 22 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals and no turnovers.

In other action around the League, Yale dropped a pair of games in the BankNorth Classic, despite 23 points and 14 rebounds from sophomore Lindsay Page (Mukilteo, Wash.) in the 77-69 loss to Navy. Brown fell in its season opener to Fordham, 78-63. Freshman Colleen Kelly (Webster, N.Y.) had 20 points, while junior Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, Ala.) chipped in with 13 points and seven boards. Jewel Clark's (Waldorf, Md.) 33 points and 12 rebounds weren't enough as Temple knocked off Penn 78-71 in the Quakers' season opener.

Sophomore Mike McLaren (Memphis, Tenn.) led four Big Green players in double figures with 19 points, including five three-pointers, but it wasn't enough as Dartmouth dropped its season opener to Lehigh, 68-62. Also in double figures were seniors Greg Friel (Durham, N.H.) (13), Charles Harris (Memphis, Tenn.) (12) and freshman Calvin Arnold (Sebastopol, Calif.) (10).

Judson Wallace (Atlanta, Ga.) had nine points and a career-high 14 rebounds, while Spencer Gloger (Santa Margarita, Calif.) had 18 points in his return as Princeton knocked off Western Michigan 62-59 in the first round of the Sooner Classic. In the championship game, No. 7 Oklahoma proved to be too much for the Tigers, earning an 82-63 win. Andre Logan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led four Tigers in double figures with 16 points.

Cornell opened its season with a win taking care of Buffalo 78-72, behind a career-high 30 points from sophomore Eric Taylor (Latham, N.Y.). Taylor added nine boards, three assists and two steals to his totals, becoming the first Big Red player to score 30 points since Ray Mercedes notched 37 against Harvard in the 2000-01 season. Sophomore Cody Toppert (Albuquerque, N.M.) added 18 for the Big Red.

Harvard point guard Elliott Prasse-Freeman hit an eight-foot shot with two seconds remaining to give the Crimson a 69-67 win over Fairfield. Senior Brady Merchant (Lebanon, Ohio) had a team-high 18 points and senior center Brian Sigfaoos (Basking Ridge, N.J.) added 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

Yale stayed close with Oklahoma State throughout before falling 68-59 to the Cowboys. Paul Vitelli (Morristown, N.J.) led the Bulldogs with 15 points and six rebounds, and Edwin Draughan (Lakewood, Calif.) chipped in 11 points and four boards. Oklahoma State has won 101 of 102 non-conference home games.

Player of the Year Ugonna Onyekwe (London, England) had a team high 15 points as Penn topped Penn State, 62-37, in its season opener. (13) and Jeff Schiffner (Chester, N.J.) (12) were all in double figures for Penn.
