Created: 11/26/2002 3:04:17 PM

CSTV: College Sports Television (www.cstv.com), the nation’s first television network devoted exclusively to college sports, and The Ivy League (www.ivyleaguesports.com) jointly announced today that they have reached a multi-year, multi-sport programming agreement by which CSTV will have the rights to live telecasts in 33 men’s and women’s sports, ranging from football and men’s and women’s basketball to field hockey, wrestling and men’s and women’s fencing and lacrosse. The agreement encompasses both regular season and conference championships action, and provides for guaranteed telecasts of Ivy League men’s and women’s sports in each year.

“CSTV will provide a wonderful national platform for Ivy League student-athletes and coaches,” said Ivy League Executive Director Jeffrey Orleans. “Our partnership will result in significant exposure opportunities for the unique Ivy approach to athletic competition.”

CSTV’s arrangement with the Ivy League will enable the network to televise live Ivy League baseball, basketball, cross country, fencing, field hockey, football, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, softball, squash, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor and outdoor track, volleyball and wrestling.

“Not only does the Ivy League have a storied athletic history, but it also boasts some of the finest athletes in college today,” said Brian Bedol, CEO and co-founder, CSTV. “The diverse roster of Ivy League sports offerings fits in perfectly with our objective of showcasing Olympic sports and their participants.”

More than 70 Ivy league alumni participated in the most recent Summer and Winter Olympics, and the Ivy League was sixth nationally out of 32 Division I conferences in the 2001-02 Sears Cup competitive standings.

CSTV has now struck exclusive programming agreements with more than 24 college conferences including America East, Atlantic 10, Big Ten, Big 12, Big East, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial Athletic Association, Conference USA, Gateway Football League, Horizon League, Ivy League, Metro Atlantic Athletic, Mid-Continent, Mountain West, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Southern, Southland, Sun Belt, West Coast, the Western Athletic Conference, and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. The agreements cover more than 250 U.S. colleges and universities.

"The addition of The Ivy League to our programming lineup is reflective of our goal of providing the broadest selection of college sports on television,” said Chris Bevilacqua, executive vice president and co-founder, CSTV. “The numerous Ivy League teams, rivalries and athletes will provide ample opportunity for storytelling and the development of personalities.”

Scheduled to launch February 23, CSTV: College Sports Television is the first television network dedicated exclusively to college sports. The network will telecast live regular season and championship games in more than 25 men's and women's intercollegiate sports via agreements with more than 24 major college athletic conferences. In addition, CSTV will air news and other studio shows, coaches' shows, classic event programming, documentaries and profiles.

Sponsoring conference championships in 33 men's and women's sports, and averaging more than 35 varsity teams at each school, the Ivy League provides intercollegiate athletic opportunities for more men and women than any other conference in the country. All eight Ivy schools are among the "top 20" of NCAA Division I schools in number of sports offered for both men and women.

CSTV was co-founded by President/CEO Brian Bedol, Chairman Stephen Greenberg, and Executive Vice President Chris Bevilacqua. Bedol and Greenberg co-founded Classic Sports Network, which they sold to ESPN and which is now ESPN Classic. Bevilacqua is a former senior executive with Nike Inc., where he headed that company’s successful foray into the college market. For more information on CSTV, log on to www.cstv.com.
