PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sean Greenhalgh, Cornell, Sophomore, Attack, St.
Catharine's, Ontario
Greenhalgh waited until the
fourth quarter to rally his Big Red to a comeback win. In
Cornell's 9-8 come-from-behind win over Penn State, he
scored four of his five and all four of the Big Red's
fourth-quarter goals to help earn a win over No. 15 Penn
State. For the week he deposited 10 goals in the net after
another five-goal outburst in a 19-6 win over Canisius. He
leads the Big Red with with 13
goals.
IVY ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jamie Coffin, Dartmouth, Attack, Greenwich,
Conn.
A huge part of Dartmouth's
4-0 start, Coffin continued his impressive rookie season in
a win over Lehigh. In the Big Green's 10-5 win, he had two
goals and three assists to earn his second consecutive
Rookie of the Week Award. So far this season he leads the
team with 21 points on eight goals and 13
assists.
IVY HONOR ROLL
Jon Thompson, Brown, Senior, Attack, Freeport, Maine
Thompson scored three goals
for the Bears against the No. 6 Minutemen in an 18-6 loss.
In the two game so far this season, Thompson has six goals,
notching three in each
contest.
Brandon Ross, Cornell, Junior, Goaltender, Harwood, Md.
Ross recorded a career-high
18 saves in Cornell's 9-8 comeback win at home over No. 15
Penn State. With the Big Red trailing 7-5 heading into the
fourth quarter, Ross allowed only one goal the rest of the
way and saved five of the Nittany Lions' shots in the final
quarter.
Ben Grinnell, Dartmouth, Sophomore, Midfielder, Waccabuc,
N.Y.
Grinnell scored three goals
in Dartmouth's 10-5 victory over Lehigh. He leads the Big
Green with 12 goals in four
games.
Matt Primm, Harvard, Senior, Forward, Westminister, Md.
Primm scored twice and
added a pair of assists in Saturday's 10-7 loss at
Fairfield. Primm leads the Crimson with 10 points on four
goals and six assists.
Jake Martin, Penn, Senior, Attack, Baltimore, Md.
Martin enjoyed himself a
career week, as the fourth-year midfielder scoring seven
goals and adding two assists to help Penn to a 2-0 week with
wins over Mount St. Mary's and No. 18 Army. Against the
Mount, Martin matched his career-high for goals in a game
with three in the 11-9 victory. Those career-high numbers
did not last however as he tallied four times and added a
career-high five points to pace Penn past Army, 13-8.
Ryan Boyle, Princeton, Junior, Attack, Hunt Valley, Md.
Boyle had a career-high
nine points (three goals, six assists) in the Tigers' 18-5
win over No. 12 Hofstra. He scored the first goal of game 52
seconds in to give Princeton lead it would not relinquish.
With those totals he movedpast Matt Striebel into seventh
all-time at Princeton in assists with 78 and needs 22 more
to move into third.
Mike Scaglione, Yale, Senior, Attack, Huntington, N.Y.
Scaglione tallied seven
goals and four assists as the Bulldogs improved to 3-0. In a
17-15 win over No. 15 Penn State, he had four goals and
three assists. He then notched three more goals and an
assists in the Elis 14-8 victory against Qunnipiac. He has
scored atleast three goals in all three Bulldog contests so
far this season.

The UMass game, scheduled for Stevenson Field, was moved to Amherst,
Mass. after Providence received five more inches of snow on Thursday,
followed by freezing temperatures ... Junior All-American goalie
Mike Levin (Pittsford, N.Y.) was peppered with 52 shots by UMass
and made a game high 17 saves for the Bears ... Sophomore Kirk
Teatom (Massapequa, N.Y.) continues to do an outstanding job
facing-off for the Bears, winning 13 of 22 face-offs for the Bears
against the sixth ranked Minutemen ... Teatom also picked up a
game-high eight ground balls for the Bears ... Brown held an early
2-0 lead on UMass following goals by junior John Urquhart
(Southport, Conn.) and senior Jon Thompson (Freeprt, Maine)
... Urquhart finished the game with a goal and an assist, while
Thompson netted three goals ... Sophomore Chazz Woodson (St.
George's, Va.) and senior Matt Winkler (West Islip, N.Y.) also
picked up goals for the Bears against the Minutemen ... Freshman
Kyle Wailes (Toronto, Ont.) picked up his first collegiate
point with an assist against UMass ... The Bears will play at home on
Tuesday against Hartford, before traveling to Loyola on Saturday.
The Big Red earned a pair of wins on the week, including a key 9-8
win against No. 15 Penn State ... Sophomore Sean Greenhalgh
(St. Catharines, Ont.) scored five goals in each of Cornell's two
wins ... Junior goaltender Brandon Ross (Harwood, Md.) made a
career-high 18 saves against the Nittany Lions ... Junior Scott
Raasch (Fayetteville, N.Y.) scored two goals and added an assist
in the 19-6 win over Canisius for his first points as a member of the
Big Red since transferring from Fairfield last year and also won a
combined 10-of-17 faceoffs over the two contests ... Junior Andrew
Collins (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) tallied six assists on the week,
including four against Canisius, and is the Big Red's leader in
points (18) and assists (11) ... The Big Red is 3-0 at home this
season and has been victorious in 11 of its past 13 contests at
Schoellkopf Field ... Cornell will open the Ivy portion of its 2003
schedule when it travels to face Yale on Saturday.
Dartmouth sophomore Ben Grinnell (Waccabuc, N.Y.) scored three
goals as the Big Green used a strong second-half performance to
defeat Lehigh, 10-5, on Saturday ... The teams were tied, 4-4, in the
third quarter before Grinnell netted his second of the day for a 5-4
lead with 3:23 remaining ... Just seven seconds later, junior
Russell Radebaugh (Freeland, Md.) won the faceoff and scored
for a 6-4 Big Green advantage ... Dartmouth's defensive unit of
Pat Keeley (Potomac, Md.), Mike de Guzman (Natick,
Mass.), Doug Carr (Mahwah, N.J.) and Matt Nicholson
(Annapolis, Md.) combined to hold Lehigh to only five goals ... The
win kept the Big Green's season perfect at 4-0 ... It's the best
start for Dartmouth since the 1995 squad began the year with a 6-0
mark ... In the nets, Dartmouth's Andrew Goldstein (Milton,
Mass.) made 13 saves.
Sophomore attack Mike McBride (Ridgewood, N.J.) scored once in
the Fairfield game and now leads the Crimson with five goals ... The
Stags then scored the game's next six goals ... Freshman attack
Sean Kane (Fairfax, Va.) scored the first two goals of his
college career ... His first goal tied the contest at 2-2 ...Junior
goalie Jake McKenna (Darien, Conn.) drew his third straight
start in net. He had 12 saves vs. Fairfield and now owns a .540 save
percentage for the year ... Harvard outshot Fairfield, 35-26, and had
a 35-28 advantage in ground balls ... The Stags, however, won 16
face-offs compared to the Crimson's six ... Harvard now embarks on a
three-game home-stand, starting with Holy Cross on Tuesday ... The
Crimson then welcomes Penn in its Ivy opener on Saturday and hosts
Providence next Tuesday night.
Penn will kick off a stretch of five straight Ivy League games,
including the first two on the road, as the Red and Blue travels to
Cambridge, Mass. to take on Harvard at 1 p.m. on Saturday ... The
Quakers have won two-straight and are coming off their highest
offensive output of the season, scoring 13 times to top the No. 18
Army, 13-9 ... Don't be fooled by the close 5-4 halftime lead in
Penn's win over No. 18 Army, the Red and Blue were outplaying the
Black Knights at both ends of the field, winning the small battles
(20-10 groundballs, 7-of-11 faceoffs, 26-10 shots) ... The Quakers
used an eight-goal second half, including four straight scores to
start the third period and never looked back again ... Will
Phillips (Annapolis, Md.) extended his points streak to 10 games
with a career-high five-point effort in Penn's win over Army ... The
junior attackman netted a career-high three goals against the Black
Knights, which gave him five in his last two games ... Phillips, who
is the only Quaker this season to record a point in all five games,
began his streak back on April 6, 2002, at Dartmouth with two assists
... During his run, he has recorded 9 goals and 12 assists.
Jason Doneger (Lynbrook, N.Y.) had a career-high four goals,
three of which were assisted by Ryan Boyle (Hunt Valley, Md.)
... Sean Hartofilis (Huntington, N.Y.) had four goals, leaving
him seven away from becoming the seventh player in school history
with 100 ... Ricky Schultz (Timonium, Md.) had the first goal
of his career and the first goal by a Princeton longstick this season
... Mac Bryson (Sewickly, Pa.), John Robinson
(Cincinnati, Ohio) and J.G. Guidera (Baltimore, Md.) all had
their first career goals ... Princeton used 40 players against
Hofstra after using a total of 19 in the first two games combined ...
Princeton had the lead for 6:19 of its first two games combined and
then had the lead for the final 59:02 against Hofstra ... Princeton
is at Syracuse this weekend in a rematch of the last three NCAA
Championship games ... Princeton and Syracuse have combined to win 13
of the last 15 NCAA Championships.
Ned Britt (Summitt, N.J.) had four goals and Mike
Scaglione (Huntington, N.Y.) added three as the Yale men's
lacrosse team beat Quinnipiac, 14-8, before 1,050 at Johnson Field
... No. 19 Bulldogs erased 3-1 and 5-2 deficits in the first period
to remain undefeated in three games ... Yale went on a 10-goal run
that included all four of Britt's scores and two by Scaglione, the
Bulldogs' captain ... Ryan Capilupi's (Garden City, N.Y.) goal
at 11:05 of the fourth was the last of the Yale run and make the
score 12-5 ... The Bobcats (1-5) tallied three of the last five goals
but it was too late for a comeback ... The Elis, who entered the game
with wins over Drexel and Penn State, outshot Quinnipiac 73-25 and
attempted 20 shots in both the first and fourth periods ... Yale did
manage to score three times with a man-advantage ... David
Schecter (Sea Ranch Lakes, Fla.) and Capilupi each had a pair of
goals, while Seth Goldberg (Syracuse, N.Y.), Greg Naso
(Hewlett Harbor, N.Y.) and Van Sternbergh (Cos Cob, Conn.)
also scored ... Roy Skeen (Baltimore, Md.) made 10 saves to
earn the win in goal.
