IVY OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sarah Averson, Cornell, Senior, Attack, Manlius, N.Y.
Averson tallied 11 points on the week, including six in a 15-11 Ivy League win over Brown. Averson added three ground balls and three draw controls in the two contests. She opened the week by scoring four goals and assisting on a fifth in the Big Red's loss at No. 11 Syracuse. She then scored two goals and totalled three assists in the win over Brown, helping snap a three-game losing streak.

















IVY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Devon Wills, Dartmouth, Freshman, Goalie, Denver, Colo.
Wills played a key role in the 9-7 Dartmouth victory over Penn, making 10 saves as the Big Green stayed undefeated in the Ivy League race. She also stopped a pair of Quaker free position attempts.


IVY HONOR ROLL
Lindsey Cassidy, Penn, Jr., Attack
Cassidy (Broomall, Pa.) scored nine goals in a 1-1 week for Penn, including a career-best seven goal performance in a 13-9 victory over Penn State. She scored two goals in the Red and Blue's 9-7 loss to Dartmouth.

Katie Sargent, Yale, So., Midfield
Sargent (Unionville, Pa.) scored five goals and dished out one assist against Monmouth in a 20-5 Yale victory. She then followed this outstanding performance by tallying two goals against Columbia in a 15-6 Yale win.

Bekah Rottenberg, Brown, Sr., Midfield
Rottenberg (Colrain, Mass.) helped lead Brown to a 1-1 week, with five goals and four assists in two games. Had three goals and one assist in Brown's win over Boston College. In the Bears' loss to Cornell, Rottenberg tallied two goals and added three assists. She also had eight draw controls and 10 ground balls on the week.

Marcela Calidonio, Columbia, Fr., Goalie
Calidonio (Freeport, N.Y.) made 19 saves against Yale, the most by any Ivy goalie this season. She did not allow a goal on five Bulldog free position shots, and made 14 of her saves in the first half.

Katieanne Christian, Dartmouth, So., Midfield
Christian (Agawam, Mass.) had another outstanding Ivy League game, pacing Dartmouth's attack in a 9-7 victory over Penn. She had three goals on four shots to go along with two ground balls and two draw controls.

Rachael Becker, Princeton, Sr., Defense
Becker (Broomall, Pa.) caused five turnovers and picked up three ground balls while not committing a single turnover herself in 60 minutes of action against Harvard on Saturday. She led a defense that allowed only one goal each half.

Erica Holveck, Cornell, Sr., Midfield
In two games, Holveck (Denville, N.J.) scooped seven ground balls, recorded four draw controls and three caused turnovers, and helped spearhead a defensive effort that held Brown's leading goal scorer, Christine Anneberg, without a goal in the final 56 minutes of play.

Katie Shaugnessy, Harvard, Sr., Attack
Shaughnessy (Garden City, N.Y.) scored three goals and added three assists in a 10-4 win over New Hampshire. She also scored one of the Crimson's two goals in a 12-2 loss to Princeton. Shaughnessy, who closed out the week with four goals and three assists, is leading the team in all offensive categories with 15 goals, eight assists, and 23 points.


BROWN BEARS

The Bears went 1-1 last week, defeating Boston College, 13-7, before dropping a 15-11 decision to Cornell ... Against the Eagles, Brown was paced by senior Bekah Rottenberg (Colrain, Mass.), junior Christine Anneberg (Denver, Colo.), and freshman Kate Staley (Needham, Mass.) who each tallied three goals and one assist ... Freshman Ashley Holden (Alexandria, Va.) added a goal and an assist, while sophomore Sarah Passano (Baltimore, Md.), junior Emily Blanton (Shaker Heights, Ohio), and sophomore Kierstan Carlson (Medford Lakes, N.J) all scored one goal ... In net, sophomore Julia Southard (Manhasset, N.Y.) stopped a season-high 13 shots ... Rottenberg also added seven ground balls and five draw controls, while junior Laurel Pierpont (Jacksonville, Fla.) had five ground balls ... Against Cornell, Brown was led by Holden, who notched three goals and one assist, and Rottenberg, who scored two goals and added three assists ... In addition, Passano and Pierpont each added two goals, while Anneberg and Carlson each netted one ... In net, Southard stopped a career-high 18 shots for the Bears.

COLUMBIA LIONS

Freshman Carrie Anderer (Needham, Mass.) had a strong showing against Yale with a goal, an assist, five ground balls and three draw controls ... Liz Gilroy (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) had two goals and an assist in the final home game of her collegiate career ... Also playing in their final home games were seniors Kristin Connors (St. Davids, Pa.), a four-year starter at defense, and Kate Treitman (Lexington, Mass.), who made her first collegiate start.

CORNELL BIG RED

Cornell split a pair of contests on the week, dropping a 12-8 decision at No. 11 Syracuse before breaking out of its recent slump with a 15-11 win over Brown ... Senior Sarah Averson (Manlius, N.Y.) keyed the offense, posting seven goals and four assists on the week, while sophomore Lindsay Steinberg (Suffern, N.Y.) tallied five times, including four times in the win over Brown ... The victory over the Bears snapped a three-game losing streak, the second-longest under head coach Jenny Graap, and guaranteed Cornell's fifth straight season above .500, a first in school history ... Freshman Allison Schindler (Lutherville, Md.) had three assists against Brown to set a school freshman record for most assists in a season with 21, breaking the record of 19 previously held by four-time All-American Jaimee Reynolds '02 ... The Big Red offense has scored in double figures in nine of 12 games while allowing 10 or more goals just three times ... The senior class of Abby Beyer (Phoenixville, Pa.), Sarah Fischer (Cleveland Heights, Ohio), Rachel Friedman (Syosset, N.Y.), Erica Holveck (Denville, N.J.) and Katie Lavin (Ft. Washington, Pa) are closing in on becoming the winningest class in Cornell history, needing just one win to tie last year's class with 49 career wins.

DARTMOUTH BIG GREEN

The coming week is a huge one for Dartmouth women's lacrosse as the Big Green hosts Harvard on Wednesday and Princeton on Saturday in games that will determine the Ivy League champion and the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament ... After enjoying the home field advantage this week, Dartmouth travels to North Carolina (May 2) and Duke (May 4) in advance of the selection show on May 4 ... Dartmouth has built a six-game win streak dating back to March 29 ... The Big Green had a 10-game streak during the 2001 campaign ... Senior co-captain Whitney Jamison (Baltimore, Md.) had a strong game against Penn with two goals and two assists ... She remains Dartmouth's second-leading scorer with 18 goals and eight assists ... Junior co-captain Lana Smith (Annapolis, Md.) tops the Big Green with 26 goals and 11 assists ... Junior Molly Jenkins (Alexandria, Va.) keeps giving Dartmouth solid play ... Against Penn, she scored a goal in the first half and also had two ground balls, two caused turnovers and one caused turnover ... On the year, she has 11 goals and five assists for 16 points.

HARVARD CRIMSON

Harvard snapped a six-game losing streak with a 10-4 win over New Hampshire … The 10 goals scored by the Crimson were a season-high for goals scored in a game … Harvard also set a season-low for goals allowed by limiting the Wildcats to four … The Crimson will close out its home schedule on Saturday when it hosts Columbia, and will finish the season on the road against Cornell.

PENN QUAKERS

Penn went 1-1 this week with a 13-9 victory over Big 10 opponent, Penn State ... In the victory over the Nittany Lions, junior attacker, Lindsey Cassidy (Broomall, Pa.) netted a career-high and school record seven goals in a game ... Penn led Dartmouth twice during the Ivy contest on Saturday but could not hold off the Big Green's four-goal streak in the second half ... The Quakers fell 9-7 to Dartmouth bringing their season record to 6-8 overall and 2-3 in the Ivy League ... In the loss to Dartmouth, Cassidy and Kate Murray (Atlantic Highlands, N.J) each had two goals ... Cassidy leads the Red and Blue with 31 goals on the season ... Penn will host Princeton at Villanova on Wednesday at 4:30 pm.

PRINCETON TIGERS

Princeton returned to action with a convincing win over Harvard on Saturday ... The Tigers defeated the Crimson 12-2 and improved to 8-4 overall, 3-1 in the Ivy League ... Rachael Becker (Broomall, Pa.) led a Princeton defense that is allowing an average of five goals per game in the month of April ... Becker had five caused turnovers and no turnovers herself in 60 minutes against Harvard ... Sophomore Leigh Slonaker (Summit, N.J.) led the offense with three goals and an assist while goalkeeper Sarah Koloder (C.S. Harbor, N.Y.) made six saves in the cage ... The Tigers are away from home in each of their next three contests, two of which are Ivy games ... First the Tigers face Penn at Villanova on Wednesday and then head to Dartmouth for Saturday's showdown.

YALE BULLDOGS

On Monday, Yale won 20-5 at Monmouth, scoring 12 goals in the first half and eight in the second ... Katie Sargent (Unionville, Pa.) scored five goals -- all in the first half -- to lead the way ... Caroline Petrovick (Millersville, Md.) added three goals, scoring them all in the first half as well ... Erica Durst (Medford Lakes, N.J.) also scored three, while Sophie Melniker (Roslyn Harbor, N.Y.), Ali Croffy (Swampscott, Mass.) and Emily Condlin (Baltimore, Md.) added two each ... Sarah Queener (Penn Yan, N.Y.), Sarah Driscoll (Belle Mead, N.J.) and Katie Brownson (Denver, Colo.) also scored ... Amanda Laws (Montclair, N.J.) played the first half in goal, making seven saves ... Lonnie Sarnell (Short Hills, N.J.) played the second half, making eight saves ... Wednesday Yale won 15-6 at Columbia ... Melniker led Yale with five goals, while Queener added a goal and four assists ... Sargent and Miles Whitman (Baltimore, Md.) scored twice, and Clarissa Clarke (Huntington, N.Y.) and Ali Cobbett (Wallingford, Conn.) also added goals ... Laws made five saves and Sarnell made nine.
