Created: 11/3/2003 12:37:12 PM

Brown junior Chris Gomez (Bellflower, Calif.) recorded his sixth shutout of the season and 12th of his career as the Bears defeated Penn 1-0 on Saturday. The junior stopped all eight of the Quakers shots as he has allowed just one goal total in Brown's five Ivy League matches. For the season, Gomez has 65 saves, a 0.70 goals against average, an .855 save percentage and a 9-3 record.

Brown freshman Brian Joyce (Silver Spring, Md.) scored the winning goal in a 1-0 defeat over Penn on Saturday, maintaining the Bears undefeated mark in the Ivy League. The goal was the first of his career. The freshman took a pass from sophomore Brian Perry and powered in a low shot to the corner from 25 yards out late in the opening half. Joyce earned a starting role early in the season and is Brown's leading rookie scorer with a goal and three assists for five points.

Columbia senior Tommy McMenemy (Southampton, England) had an assist in both the Lafayette and Yale games. The Lions' senior co-captain now has a goal and three assists in his last four games.

Cornell rookie Nick Leonard (Eugene Ore.) netted an equalizer with under 19 minutes left in regulation in the Big Red's 2-1 double overtime loss at Princeton on Friday night. The freshman's goal was his second of the year.

Dartmouth sophomore Amar Takhar (Garibaldi Heights, B.C.) scored his first career goal in the Big Green's loss to Harvard on Saturday.

Harvard senior Kevin Ara (Upland, Calif.) helped get the Crimson going early as they rolled to a 4-1 win in their only game of the week. First he assisted Nicholas Tornaritis on the first goal of the game, then 10 minutes later he scored off a direct kick to put Harvard up 2-0.

Penn rookie Daniel Cepero (Baldwin, N.Y.) tallied a career-high 10 saves in the cage for the Quakers despite falling to No. 11 Brown, 1-0. Cepero now boasts a save percentage of .917 and a 0.50 GAA in 180 minutes of play.

Princeton senior Jeff Hare (Richmond, Va.) scored two headers this weekend, including the overtime gamewinner against league rival Cornell. Hare, who has played every minute of every game this season, led Princeton past the Big Red on Friday night when he headed in his third goal of the season just one minute into the second overtime. Two days later, he helped the Tigers avoid a shutout to No. 12 Fairleigh Dickinson with a header in the 21st minute.

Yale rookie Alex Munns (Des Moines, Iowa) scored Yale's first goal in Saturday's key 2-1 victory over Columbia. At the time, it gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Munns is tied for the team lead in goals with four.
