Men

Cornell freshman winger Byron Bitz (Corman Park, Sask.) had four points over the weekend with two goals and two assists with a goal and an assist in each game. He had the second goal on Friday and assisted on the fifth. He then assisted on the first/game-winning goal on Saturday and then scored the second goal. Bitz is averaging 1.75 points per game, which leads all rookies in the NCAA.

Harvard junior forward
Tom Cavanagh (Warwick, R.I.) had a pair of assists in a 6-4 win over Vermont, and scored both Crimson goals in a 2-2 deadlock with Dartmouth on Saturday.

Brown senior goaltender
Yann Danis (Saint Jerome, Que.) posted his second win of the season with a 24 save-effort at Vermont, allowing just one goal and stopping 10 shots in the third period to preserve the win. Danis notched 33 saves in Brown’s loss to Dartmouth, allowing just two goals. In three games, he has allowed just three goals and has a .967 save percentage.

Harvard senior forward
Tyler Kolarik (Abington, Pa,) had a four-point game at Vermont (1-3-4), helping the Crimson to a 6-4 win.

Cornell freshman goaltender
David McKee (Irving, Texas) earned his first and second collegiate victories over the weekend, including his first collegiate shutout with the 7-0 win on Saturday vs. Princeton. He stopped 24 shots against both Yale and Princeton.

Brown junior forward
Mike Meech (Coquitlam, B.C.) helped to lead Brown past Vermont with his first goal of the season. With the game tied 1-1 early in the third period, Meech cashed in on the rebound of a Dylan Row shot to score what would prove to be the game-winner.

Yale freshman goaltender
Matt Modelski (Brighton, Mich.) stopped 41 of 43 shots to net win against Colgate in his first collegiate game. It was scheduled to be his first collegiate start, but after he had already skated on the ice, it was discovered that he was not wearing a regulation chin strap. He missed the first 33 seconds of action. Once in net, though, Modelski provided Yale with stellar goaltending, carrying a shutout into the third period, which allowed the Bulldogs to establish a lead. He came up big several times at the end of regulation into overtime, especially on a Colgate power play, one of which stretched into the extra period. He made 16 saves in the third period and five in OT. For his performance, he was tabbed as the ECAC Rookie of the Week.

Harvard senior forward
Dennis Packard (Kingston, Pa.) scored twice against Vermont to propel the Crimson to a 6-4 win over the 'Cats. His goals broke 3-3 and 4-4 deadlocks in the game. Packard added an assist in a 2-2 tie with Dartmouth.

Brown freshman defenseman
Dylan Row (Winnipeg, Man.) helped lead the Bears to a 1-1 week to improve to 2-1 on the season with two assists, his first two points of the year. He tallied an assist on the lone Brown goal against Dartmouth, a power-play goal, and earned his second point in two games with an assist on the game-winning goal at Vermont.

Dartmouth junior
Lee Stempniak (West Seneca, N.Y.) recorded his third career hat-trick when he netted all three Dartmouth goals in the Big Green's first Ivy win against Brown on Friday. Stempniak has now scored four of Dartmouth's six goals on the season. Stempniak was Dartmouth's leading scorer last season and is only 22 points shy of cracking the Dartmouth charts and joining the 100-point club.

Cornell senior center
Ryan Vesce (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) picked up nine points on the weekend with four goals and five assists. On Saturday vs. Princeton, he had a hand in all seven of the Big Red's goals with his first collegiate hat trick and four assists. His seven-point performance was one point shy of the Cornell record of eight, which has been hit six times, most recently in 1977. It was the most points in a game in the NCAA in at least four years,. Ryan now has 11 points on the year and he is averaging 2.75 points per game which ties him for first in the nation along with teammate Matt Moulson. Vesce was named the ECAC's Player of the Week.

Dartmouth junior goaltender
Dan Yacey (Fort Saskatchewan, Alb.) has started in goal for Dartmouth for the past three games. Yacey started only five games last season. He currently has a 1.45 goals against average and a .950 save percentage. He recorded 23 saves against Brown and 28 against Harvard seeing 54 shots in the two games and allowing only three goals. For his performance, Yacey was named the ECAC Goalie of the Week.

Yale sophomore
Joe Zappala (Medford, Mass.) netted the game-winning goal in the Bulldogs' overtime win against Colgate. Yale, searching for its first win of the season, squandered a 2-0 third period lead and wound up in overtime, in need of a spark. Zappala provided that with an aggressive play. After two of his linemates put the puck on net, the Eli was positioned to get a rebound and fire it home, beating the Colgate netminder top shelf.


Women

Princeton senior Gretchen Anderson (Natick, Mass.) had her second four-point weekend in a row as the Tigers split a pair of overtime games. In Saturday's 3-2 win versus Maine, she scored twice, including the overtime winner, and on Sunday she had a goal and an assist in Princeton's 3-2 overtime loss. Anderson is averaging 2.00 points per game this season.

Dartmouth freshman
Meredith Batcheller (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) scored two third period goals in the Big Green's 9-2 win over Vermont Sunday. She scored at 1:28 and 10:34 of the period, and both goals came on the power play.

Harvard junior forward
Nicole Corriero (Thornhill, Ont.) recorded 16 points on nine goals and seven assists as #3 Harvard opened is season with a two-game sweep at Union. Corriero broke the Crimson record for goals in a game by scoring six times, including one power play and two shorthanded goals in the 13-0 win on Friday night. She added four assists to join Jennifer Botterill as the only Harvard skaters to score 10 points in a game. She followed that with a first period hat trick and three helpers in Saturday's 11-0 win over the Dutchwomen. She was named the ECAC's Player of the Week for her performance.

Harvard sophomore forward
Jennifer Raimondi (Langley , B.C.) turned in four goals and three assists in Harvard's two wins at Union to open the season. She notched the first hat trick of her career and added an assist in Friday's 13-0 win. Raimondi closed out the weekend with a goal and a pair of helpers on Saturday.

Harvard freshman forward
Jennifer Sifers (Stratford, Conn.) scored the first goal of her collegiate career, a power play score, on Friday against Union. She followed that with a power play goal and an assist in the win on Saturday.

Yale freshman forward
Jenna Spring (Cranbrook, B.C.) recorded four points in two games this weekend in a loss to Northeastern and in a victory versus Boston College. The freshman tallied two assists in both games and now ranks fifth among freshman in overall points. Spring is average a point a game after four contests.

Dartmouth sophomore forward
Katie Weatherston (Thunder Bay, Ont.) had a big weekend in two victories over Vermont. Weatherston tallied two goals and two assists to lead Dartmouth to an 8-2 win on Saturday in Burlington. At home the next day, she recorded two goals and an assist to lead the Big Green to a 9-2 victory. Weatherston is second in the ECAC with nine points and second in goals with five.
