The United States rowing squad for the 2004 Summer Olympic Games has been announced and the final roster is heavy with current and former Ivy Leaguers. In all, 16 members of the 45-person team have Ivy League experience.

The U.S. will be competing in 12 of the 14 events in Athens. The Ivies will be represented in nine of the events -- men’s double sculls, lightweight men’s double sculls, lightweight women’s double sculls, men’s quadruple sculls, women’s quadruple sculls, men’s pair, men’s four, men’s eight, and women’s eight. The other three events will be the women’s single sculls, women’s pair and lightweight men’s four.

Among the U.S. team members with Olympic experience are Ivy Leaguers Henry Nuzum, Greg Ruckman, Wolf Moser, Paul Teti and Chris Ahrens. The Ivy list also includes the husband-wife combo of Danika and Ben Holbrook.

In addition, two Columbia athletes -- Veljko Urosevic and Milos Tomic – will be competing in the men’s lightweight four for the Serbia-Montenegro national squad.

The rowing portion of the 2004 Games will occur August 14-22, with finals taking place on August 19 and 21-22.
