Harvard's 2003-04 Awards

William J. Bingham Award
Presented to the senior male athlete, who through integrity, courage, leadership and ability on the athletic field, has best served the high purpose of Harvard as exemplified by William J. Bingham '16 (former athletic director) in his many years of loyal service.

Jesse Jantzen, Wrestling
Jesse Jantzen (Shoreham, N.Y.) added the Bingham Award to a long list of accomplishments, which included the NCAA championship at the 149-pound weight class in March. He was just Harvard's second wrestler, and the first since 1938, to be named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the NCAA championships and was chosen as the Ivy League and EIWA Wrestler of the Year. He is the only Harvard wrestler in history to make four NCAA tournament appearances and is the Crimson's first three-time All-America selection.

Dante Balestracci, Football

Radcliffe College Alumnae Assoc. Award
Presented to a senior varsity athlete who through outstanding ability on the playing field, dedication to her sport of sports, and leadership qualities, best reflects the purposeful achievement of Radcliffe alumnae in every field around the world.

Angela Ruggiero, Ice Hockey
Angela Ruggiero (Harper Woods, Mich.) capped her Harvard career with the Radcliffe Association Award following a year in which she won the Patty Kazmaier Award as the nation's top player. She also was named the ECAC and Ivy League Player of the Year, was chosen as the most outstanding player of the ECAC tournament and was named to the NCAA all-tournament team after leading Harvard to a spot in the national championship game for the second straight year. She was a four-time first-team All-America selection to go with four selections to the All-ECAC and All-Ivy League first teams.
