Princeton junior Emily Behncke (Williamsburg, Va.) scored two goals and had one assist in Princeton's 4-1 win over Dartmouth. Behncke, who is tied for team lead with five goals, scored her first goal 1:21 after Dartmouth had cut the Tigers' lead to 2-1. The performance, her third career two-goal game, established her career-high with five points.
Penn rookie defender Rachel Fletcher (Littleton, Colo.) was solid on defense last week for the Quakers. She anchored a back line that only allowed one goal (against La Salle on Sept. 29) and shut out Cornell.
Brown freshman midfielder Anne Friedland (Toronto, Ontario) tallied one assist in Brown's 4-2 win over Columbia. Friedland, the leading rookie on the Brown team with four points (1g, 2a), has started in all eight games for Brown and played nearly every minute of every game.
Dartmouth forward/midfielder Sarah Johnson (Shorewood, Minn.) tallied the Big Green's lone goal against Princeton on Saturday. It was her team-leading sixth tally of the season. As a freshman, Johnson led the team with five assists, but did not score a goal. She needs three more goals this year to crack the the top ten in the Dartmuoth record book for goals in a season.
In the Bears only game of the week, sophomore forward Kathryn Moos (Wayzata, Minn.) led Brown past Columbia with two goals and one assist. After Brown had taken a 1-0 lead on a goal assisted by Moos, the Lions knotted the contest at 1-1. Just 1:04 later, Moos gave the Bears a 2-1 lead with her second goal of the season. Columbia again tied the contest and after Brown went up 3-2, Moos scored her second of the game to give the Bears a 4-2 lead and the win. Both of her goals were scored after she controlled the ball for more than 50 yards, beating her defenders, before scoring. Moos currently leads the team with nine points (3g, 3a).
Columbia junior forward Courtney Nasshorn (Newtown, Pa.) scored her second goal and registered her third assist of the season in the Lions 4-2 loss at Brown on Friday. Nasshorn scored in the 69th minute to tie the score at 1-1 and assisted on Lindsey Knowles’ goal in the 72nd minute as the Lions again leveled the match. The junior striker has 11 goals and 33 points in her Columbia career.
Harvard junior goalkeeper Katie Shields (Dana Point, Calif.) was magnificent in net for the Crimson yet again, making eight saves in a 1-0 shutout of arch-rival Yale on Saturday. Shields has allowed just one goal in her last 418:04 over four-plus games, while boasting a 0.21 GAA and .950 save percentage over that streak. Her performance has helped the Crimson even its Ivy record at 1-1
Yale senior goalkeeper Sarah Walker (Alameda, Calif.) had a strong game against Harvard, making a season-high 12 saves, including several from point-blank range. Walker has started all nine games in goal and has a 0.94 GAA. |
