Seven members of the Ivy champion Dartmouth Big Green have been named first or second team All-Ivy in a vote by the League's eight head coaches. Leading the way for the Green, who went from last in 2003 to Ivy champ in 2004, are defensive standout Oliver Harker-Smith (Yateley, England) and goalkeeper Rowan Anders (Qualicum Beach, British Columbia). The pair will lead a stingy Dartmouth defense into the NCAA Tournament after allowing only three goals in Ivy play this season, while owning a 0.73 goals against average overall.
Anders, a sophomore, appeared in 15 games for the Big Green, totaling five shutouts and a 0.75 GAA in almost 1450 minutes between the pipes. Anders had plenty of help from the Harker-Smith led backfield as the Big Green led the Ivies in total goals allowed (13), goals allowed per game (0.81) and shutouts (6).
Dartmouth sophomore forward Mark Limpert (Elizabethtown, Pa.) joins his two teammates on the first team. Limpert, a two-time Ivy Player of thew Week this season, led the Big Green with 13 points on the season (6g, 1a) to lead the Big Green, including a tally in three consecutive Ivy games to clinch Dartmouth's Ivy crown.
Princeton junior forward Darren Spicer (Diamond Bar, Calif.) gets the nod from the Ivy coaches as the League's Player of the Year. Spicer was the only Ivy individual to total double digit goals on the season (12) and also garner over 20 points on the year (25). He averaged 1.47 points per game in the 17 contests he appeared in for the Tigers and stepped up in Ivy competition to average 1.57 points per contest.
Yale's Andrew Dealy (Pittsburgh, Pa.) captures his second straight first team All-Ivy honor at the midfield position after posting six goals and three assists on the season. His totals place him among the Ivy leaders in goals, assists, points and game-winning goals (2).
Joining Dealy on the first team is teammate Ryan Raybould (Leawood, Kan.). The senior midfielder started all 17
games for the Elis and posted three assists, including one in Ivy action.
Brown senior defenseman Jeff Larentowicz (West Chester, Pa.) is tabbed as a first-team member for the second consecutive season. The cornerstone of the Bears' defense, Larentowicz started 17 games and had three goals this season. Teammate Marcos Romaniero (Sao Paulo, Brazil) joins Larentowicz on the first team. The senior midfielder led the League in assists with nine and led the Bears in toial points with 15 (6g, 9a).
Columbia senior midfielder Thor Gestsson (Saudaukrokur, Iceland) finished his career on Morningside Heights by leading the Lions and finishing among the top eight in the Ivies in goals (5), assists (3) and points (13).
Harvard junior midfielder Nicholas Tornaritis (Groton, Mass.) finished second in the Ivies in goals with seven and also tied for the team lead in points with 15 (6g, 3a). He was named Ivy Player of the Week on October 18 after his last-minute goal led the Crimson to an upset win over defending Ivy champ Brown.
Rounding out the first team is Penn defender Erik Hallenbeck (Laguna Hills, Calif.). The senior atarted all 17 games for the Quakers and led a Red and Blue defense that posted six shutouts, including three in Ivy play this season.
Harvard first-year midfielder Mike Fucito (Westford, Mass.) captures the Rookie of the Year honor after notching nine points (3g, 3a) in 2004. He was named Ivy Rookie of the Week on October 11 after scoring a goal and adding an assist in a win over Cornell.
