Brown senior goalkeeper Chris Gomez was the 28th overall pick at the 2005 MLS SuperDraft this weekend. The six-foot-two Gomez was selected by FC Dallas, which is no stranger to Brown soccer. Former Bears' standout Cory Gibbs '01 has been playing for Dallas for a year now. Gomez was a stalwart between the posts for Brown the last three seasons. He played every minute in net for the Bears in 2004, registering a 1.13 goals against average and six shutouts.

Gomez was a two-time All-Ivy and All-New England selection. In 2003, Gomez allowed just two penatly kicks in league play, leading Brown to the Ivy League Title and NCAA Tournament.

The 2004 adidas/Brown Classic's Defensive MVP, Gomez recorded a career-high 13 saves against Columbia on Oct. 2 this past season. Gomez received Second Team All-Ivy honors this season after earning First Team accolades in 2003. He was named the Ivy League Player of the Week after shutting out the No. 4 and No. 5 teams in the country at the Stanford Nike Tournament earlier in the season.

Gomez joins six other Ivy Leaguers in MLS and becomes the 14th Ivy Leaguer currently playing professional soccer.
