Alex Searle has been promoted to the position of Assistant Director, Communications after joining the Ivy staff as consultant in January 2007. Prior to joining the Ivy League, he earned a master of science degree in Sport Management/Business from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla.

Searle holds numerous responsibilities at the Ivy League, including being the main contact for baseball, fencing (M/W), field hockey, golf (M), lacrosse (W), soccer (M), squash (M/W), swimming/diving (M/W) and wrestling. He will also assist in the management of the League’s website and contribute to the execution of the League's nine championship events and contest scheduling.

A pioneer in new media/internet work, he will continue to serve as the League's main blogging source for various sports throughout the season, including but not limited to: fencing, men's and women's swimming/diving and NCAA tournament coverage. He will also continue to be the driving creative force and main contributor to special interest projects for the League, due in large part to the hugely successful 2008 Beijing Ivy League Olympics blog — Ivies in China. The blog attracted over 55,000 visitors from its inception until the closing ceremonies of the Beijing Games (July 31st-August 24, 2008).

While at Florida, Searle was actively involved, serving as a graduate assistant in the University's College of Health and Human Performance before being promoted to Assistant Director of Facilities/Operations. He also gained valuable experience in the athletic department, working closely with its storied football program. Specifically, he worked in the recruiting division from 2003-06 — a tenure that would shape the Gators' top-ranked Signing Day class in 2006 and included many of the key contributors on the 2006-07 and 2008-09 National Championship teams (including QB Tim Tebow — the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner).

A fine athlete in his own right, Searle was a highly decorated high school soccer player in the state of Pennsylvania where he garnered Second Team All-State honors in 1996 and First Team All-State accolades in 1997. A promising playing career cut short because of injuries, he would go on to graduate magna cum laude from West Chester University, receiving a B.S. in Education in 2003. He wants to continue his education and is currently looking to pursue MBA studies.

Searle resides in Langhorne, Pa.
