Princeton Remains in the Top 25 in the Final Fall Division I Directors' Cup Standings for the 2010-11 Season

CLEVELAND -- Princeton remained in the top 25, ranking 25th, in the final fall Division I Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings for the 2010-11 season.
The Tigers are at No. 25 with 184 points, just three points behind UCLA in 24th place, after finishing fifth in women’s field hockey, 12th in men’s cross country, 15th in women’s cross country and 33rd in men's soccer.
Stanford has taken the lead in the final fall standings. The
Cardinal leads North Carolina by 19 points, 399-380. Stanford
finished fourth in FBS football to add 80 points to their previous
total. The Tar Heels finished 26th in FBS football.
Ohio State now sits in third place after adding to their point
total through a fifth place finish in FBS football. The Buckeyes
have 369 points.
In fourth place is Florida State with 361.50 points. The Seminoles
earned a 16th place finish in FBS football.
Rounding out the top-five is Penn State. The Nittany Lions
finished 46th in FBS football, bringing their point total to 300
points.
All eight fall NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: men’s cross country - Oklahoma State; women’s cross country – Villanova (Pa.); women’s field hockey – Maryland; women’s soccer – Notre Dame; men’s soccer – Akron; men’s water polo – Southern California; women’s volleyball – Penn State; FCS football – Eastern Washington; FBS football – Auburn.
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a
joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate
Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded
based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports -- 10
women’s and 10 men’s.
The next Division I standings will be released Thursday, March
24.
