Nine Ivies Take Part in One for the Ages as Canada Women's Hockey Defeats USA
In a game that featured nine Ivies, Canada defeated the United States to claim the women's hockey Olympic goal medal on Thursday evening in Sochi. Cornell's Brianne Jenner, Laura Fortino '13, Rebecca Johnston '12, Lauriane Rougeau '13 and Dartmouth's Gillian Apps '13 held the high honor of wrapping a gold medal around their necks following the game. Led by Harvard head coach Katey Stone, three Ivies (Harvard's Lyndsey Fry, Michelle Picard, Josephine Pucci) were awarded silver medals for Team USA. Congratulations to all our medalists and thank you for representing The Ivy League® in a game to remember.
Yale's Staenz Boasts First-Ever Switzerland

Cornell's Jamie Greubel Wins Bronze in Bobsled
This afternoon, Cornell's Jamie Greubel's '06 time of 3:51.61 added to the Ivies Winter Olympic Games medal count with bronze in the women's bobsled.
Caldwell Finishes Eighth in Team Sprint
Dartmouth's Sophie Caldwell '12 finished eighth today in the women's Cross Country Team Sprint Final. Caldwell and teammate Kikkan Randall clocked in with a time of 16:48.08.

Four Ivies have advanced to the women's hockey gold medal game on Thursday as Team Canada defeated Yale's Phoebe Staenz and Team Switzerland on Monday evening. All four Ivies on Team Canada saw ice time while Staenz was tied for a team-high five shots on goal.

Andrew Weibrecht Takes Silver In Super-G
Dartmouth's Andrew Weibrecht '09 became the second Ivy to reach the podium at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, taking Silver in the super-G alpine skiing race. Weibrecht started in 29th-place but sped down the course, finishing 0.30 seconds behind Norway's Kjetil Jansrud, who recorded a time of 1:18.14. Weibrecht has now earned medals in back-to-back Olympics, as he won Bronze in the super-G in Vancouver.

Tucker Murphy Competes for Team Bermuda
Dartmouth's Tucker Murphy '04 took part in the men's cross-country 15 km classic style this morning in Sochi. Murphy finished with a time of 49:19.9 for Team Bermuda.
Dartmouth Trio Battle in Women's 15 km Classic
Susan Dunklee '08, Sara Studebaker '07 and Hannah Dreissigacker '09 all took part in the Women's 15 km biathlon this afternoon in Sochi. Dreissigacker finished in 23rd while Dunklee turned in a 34th place performance followed by Studebaker in 55th.
Dartmouth's Weibrecht '09 Takes Run at Men's Super
Andrew Weibrecht '09 took part in the Men's Super Combined this afternoon in Sochi. Weibrecht finished in 20th position in the downhill portion of the event.

Dartmouth's Caldwell, Sargent Compete in Women's 10 km Classic
Sophie Caldwell '12 and Ida Sargent '11 both took part in the Women's Cross-Country 10 km Classic style race on Thursday afternoon. Caldwell finished in 32nd place while Sargent crossed the finish line in 34th position.

Sophie Caldwell Claims Best Olympic Finish for a U.S. Female Cross-Country Skier
Dartmouth's Sophie Caldwell placed sixth in the women's cross-country sprint final, the best-ever finish for a U.S. female cross-country skier at the Olympics. Fellow Big Green Ida Sargent also competed in the race, coming in 19th.

Dartmouth's Dunklee Claims 14th Spot in Biathlon
Three former Dartmouth student-athletes participated in the Women's 7.5 km Sprint Biathlon this evening in Sochi. Susan Dunklee '08 paced the way with a 14th place finish. In addition, Sara Studebaker '07 finished 44th while Hannah Dreissigacker '09 came across in 65th position. Also, fresh off her bronze medal performance yesterday, Hannah Kearney will receive take the medal platform (and find time to register for classes).
