Wesley Harris — a native Long Islander -- joined the Ivy League in July of 2006 as Public Information Coordinator. An English major at Georgetown University, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in May of 2006.
During his time at Georgetown, Harris was a part of the University’s Black Student Alliance as well as the Sursum Corda Tutoring Program, where he served as a mentor to disadvantaged youth of a Washington, D.C. housing community. He also headed the “Big Kids” program and oversaw fund-raising activities.
Harris has experience in the sports industry. Most recently, in the spring of 2006, he served an internship for Bickerstaff Sports & Entertainment. Working directly under the marketing and public relations manager, Harris' responsibilities included writing marketing plans and pitching ideas to national media outlets.
He will take on numerous responsibilities at the Ivy League that will include being the main contact for volleyball and women’s soccer in the fall, men’s basketball in the winter, as well as softball and men’s lacrosse in the spring. He will assist in the management of the League’s website and contribute to Ivy@50, a celebration of the League’s 50th anniversary, in addition to maintaining the website celebrating black history in the Ivy League.
