Princeton, Yale Ranked Nationally

Wednesday, August 22, 2007

The preseason Coaches Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) poll has been released and Yale and Princeton, last year's Ivy champions, begin the season in the top 25.

Yale, picked to win the 2007 Ivy title in the annual preseason media poll, is ranked 24th and returns a prolific running back in junior Mike McLeod. McLeod rushed for more than 100 yards nine times last season and scored 20 touchdowns. Princeton was picked fourth, behind both Penn and Harvard, after losing Ivy Player of the Year Jeff Terrell to graduation, but the nation's coaches have the Tigers ranked 25th.

The poll is based exclusively on a voting panel of 28 head coaches in the FCS (including Harvard's Tim Murphy and Yale's Jack Siedlecki) under the cooperation of the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).

The poll is available on the newly-created FCS web page that features the poll, conference scores and standings, and features on FCS programs and players. The Southern Conference will oversee the poll and maintain the web site.
