OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cornell sophomore quarterback Jeff Mathews (Camarillo, Calif.) set school game records for passing yardage, passing touchdowns, completions, completion percentage, passing efficiency and total offense in leading the Big Red to a modern-day scoring record in a 62-41 victory over Columbia. He threw for 521 yards, becoming the first Cornellian and the third Ivy League player to surpass 500 yards. He fell just five yards short of the Ivy single-game mark. Mathews completed his first 13 passing attempts of the day, threw scoring passes of 6, 24, 47, 46 and 28 yards and didn't have a pass broken up or intercepted. It was Mathews' fifth game of at least 300 passing yards this season, a new Cornell record. His five touchdown passes ranks second in Ivy history in a game, while his 40 completions ranks 10th all-time.

Harvard senior defensive tackle Josue Ortiz (Avon Park, Calif.) controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the day in the Crimson's win against Penn. Ortiz recorded two first quarter sacks; before halftime he recorded three tackles for a loss, forced and recovered a fumble. He finished with 3.5 tackles for a loss and a game-high 10 tackles (6 solo) while sitting much of the fourth quarter. Ortiz moved into second place on Harvard's all-time sacks list with 19.

The League's leading scorer also averaged 36.0 yards on his three punts while pinning two of those kicks inside the Columbia 15-yard line. Greenway had a pair of kickoffs go for touchbacks and averaged 62.8 yards on his 10 kickoffs.
