Fifteen Ivy Field Hockey Players Earn All-Region Honors
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Fifteen Ivy League field
hockey players have been named to various 2010 Longstreth/NFHCA
All-Region teams it was announced on Thursday, including six
All-Region first team honorees. Those players named to an
All-Region first team are eligible for the 2010 All-America teams,
which will be announced on Monday, November 22.
The Princeton Tigers led the Ivies with seven selections,
including four first-team honorees and three second-team selections
for the Mid-Atlantic Region. Princeton’s four first-team
honorees were also first-team selections last season. Ivy League
Player of the Year Kathleen Sharkey, the
nation’s leading goal scorer this season, led the group. Also
on the first team were Katie Reinprecht,
Julia Reinprecht and Michelle
Cesan. The three Tigers named to the second team include
Alyssa Pyros, who earned her second-straight
second-team honor, and first time honorees Amy
Donovan and Alexandra Douwes.
Yale junior Dinah Landshut headlines the
All-Mideast Region team as a first team honoree. Landshut was a
second team All-Region selection a season ago. Landshut’s
teammate Erin Carter was named to the All-Mideast
second team, marking her first career All-Region honor.
Catie De Stio of Cornell and Gabby
Kozlowski of Columbia were also named to the All-Mideast
Region second team. It is De Stio’s third appearance on an
All-Mideast region team, while Kozlowski earned her first career
honor.
The Ivies also had three players selected to the All-Northeast
team, led by first team honoree Kelly Hood of
Dartmouth. Also representing the Big Green, Virginia
Peisch was named to the All-Northeast second team. Fellow
Ivy League players Carly Dickson of Harvard and
Katherine Hyland of Brown join Peisch on the
All-Northeast second team. It is the third consecutive all-region
second team honor for Dickson.
