Eiter to Coach Team USA in FILA World Jr. Championships
Penn wrestling head coach Rob Eiter will be adding another color to his wardrobe later this month, trading in his allegiance to the Red and Blue while leading Team USA in the 2010 FILA World Junior Championships in Budapest, Hungary from July 20-25.

Harvard's J.P. O'Connor Takes National Title at 157 lbs.
Entering his senior season, Harvard's J.P. O'Connor had enormous expectations to live up to. After going 32-4 as a junior, his goal was a national title. With a 6-4 decision over Cal Poly's Chase Pami in the 157 lbs. final, he has one. He also has an undefeated senior campaign to cherish.

Kyle Dake Takes Title at 141, Cornell Finishes Second
Ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Wrestling National Championship brackets, Cornell's Kyle Dake defeated Iowa's Montell Marion, 7-3, to win the National title in the 141 pound weight class. Dake, a freshman, also earned All-America honors and propelled the Big Red to a second-place team finish.

All-Ivy Wrestling -- 2009-10
Cornell's eighth straight Ivy wrestling title has been capped with an impressive eight first team All-Ivy selections. Freshman sensation Kyle Dake, the No. 1 wrestler in the country at 141 pounds, continues the Big Red six-year trend of capturing at least a share of the Rookie of the Year award.

Cornell Cruises to Eighth Straight in Wrestling
The Big Red wrestling team pinned five of its opponents to cruise to a 44-6 victory over Harvard and winning its eighth-straight Ivy League title on Saturday. Cornell has won 43-straight Ancient Eight matches to capture its 31st conference crown.

Nickerson Wins National Title at 125 lbs.
Three time All-American Troy Nickerson won the 2009 NCAA championship at 125 pounds on Saturday night with a 2-1 tie breaker win over Paul Donahoe of Edinboro. Nickerson previously placed third and second in 2007 and 2006 respectively. The Big Red finished in fifth place as a team.

Cornell's Nickerson Goes For NCAA Wrestling Title
Big Red wrestling's Troy Nickerson has advanced to his second career finals at the NCAA tournament. Nickerson defeated the defending champion Angel Escobedo of Indiana in the semifinals at 125 pounds. Cornell sits in sixth place as a team, only a half a point out of fifth.

Ivies Wrestling Well at NCAAs
After a full day of competition has been completed in St. Louis, Mo., the 20 Ivy League wrestlers have been pared down considerably. However, a handful of athletes are still competing for All-America status and individual titles.

Field Set for Arch Madness; 20 Ivies Get Invites
The NCAA recently announced 52 at-large selections to the 2009 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. Four Ivy Leaguers earned selections via this process and will join the 16 automatic qualifiers in St. Louis, Mo. for the Championships. Action for all 330 wrestlers in the field begins March 19th.

Cornell Takes Down Third-Straight EIWA Title
Cornell wrestling won its third-straight EIWA tournament on Sunday evening and crowned four individual champions at the meet. Additionally, the Big Red had seven automatic NCAA tournament qualifiers.

All-Ivy Wrestling -- 2008-09
Shortly after earning a seventh-straight Ivy League championship, the Cornell wrestling team also pinned down most of the All-Ivy selections in 2009. In all, eight Ithacans earned All-Ivy distinction. Additionally, the Big Red grappled the Wrestler and Rookie of the Year awards.

Cornell's Lucky Number Seven
The Big Red wrestling team won its seventh-straight Ivy title this past Saturday with a 34-9 victory over Harvard. The Big Red finished its dual season by pinning down a 12-2 record and was a perfect 5-0 against the Ancient Eight.

Cornell's Niemand Named Order of Merit Inductee
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame has announced that Cornell’s Arno Niemand ’56 has been chosen as an Order of Merit inductee. The award is given to a person who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of wrestling, other than success as an athlete or coach.

What Happens in Vegas... Makes National News
Ivy wrestlers fared very well at the 27th Annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational over the weekend. The League had three champions — Penn's Rollie Peterkin (125), Harvard's Corey Jantzen (141) and Cornell's Mack Lewnes (165). No. 4 ranked Cornell finished in second in the 44-team field.

Leen Wins National Title
Cornell 157-pounder Jordan Leen has won the national title by beating Illinois' Michael Poeta, 5-4, at the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Mo. The No. 8 seed in the tournament completed his unlikely run by knocking off the top two seeds en route to capturing the title.

Leen Advances To National Final
Cornell junior captain Jordan Leen defeated Stanford's Josh Zupancic in the semifinals to advance to the finals at the 157-pound weight class at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in St. Louis, Mo., on Friday.

Catch 22
As the wrestling world turns its attention to Arch Madness in St. Louis, there are 22 Ivy Leaguers who begin preparation for the NCAA Championships, which will be held at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis from March 20 to 22.

Cornell Edges Penn At Easterns
The Big Red held off the Quakers at the EIWA Championships in Lancaster, Pa., taking the team title by the narrowest margin in nearly 50 years. Four Ivies won individual titles, including three wrestlers from Penn.

Cornell Leads EIWAs
On the first day of the EIWA Championships, Cornell and Penn have broken from the pack and look to be in fine shape for Sunday's finals. The Big Red has eight semifinalists while the Quakers boast of seven.

104th EIWA Championship Set to Kick off Tomorrow
The 104th edition of the EIWA Championships are all set to take place this weekend at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., with all six Ivy League wrestling programs in action for the two-day event.

All-Ivy Wrestling -- 2007-08
The eight Ivy League head wrestling coaches were of the same mind in their 2008 balloting for the All-Ivy teams, unanimously selecting the entire first team as well as Wrestler and Rookie of the Year. Harvard sophomore J.P. O'Connor was selected as the Wrestler of the Year.

Cornell Takes Title
Cornell won its sixth consecutive Ivy League wrestling championship by closing the season with a 31-9 victory over Harvard. The Big Red finished unbeaten in Ivy matches and with an eight-match winning streak overall.

Wrestling Features...
Taking Down Cancer
Cornell's Adam Frey fought valiantly against his hardest opponent ever, surrounded by people willing to help him. Frey passed away on December 26th, 2009, after a 21-month battle with stage III germ-cell cancer. His legacy endures at the Adam Frey Foundation.

A David Amongst Goliaths
Dan Ackman of The Wall Street Journal recently did a feature story on the Cornell University wrestling program in preparation for the march to Arch Madness in St. Louis, Mo. on March 19th. Could this be the year for a team title?

He didn't know it at the time, but as Ed Lu trained as a wrestler at Cornell, he was also preparing for his future job -- as a space-walking astronaut for NASA. On the side, Lu's hobby is trying to save the world from asteroids.
