Chris Bates, who has spent the last 10 years as the head coach at Drexel University, has become the 10th head men's lacrosse at Princeton University. He replaces Hall of Fame coach Bill Tierney, who left to become the head coach at Denver.

Ivies Lead U.S. to World Championship in Lacrosse
The United States held off a furious charge from Australia to win the 2009 FIL Women's World Cup, 8-7. USA held an 8-4 advantage before a three-goal flurry finished the game. In the two games with the Aussies, the Americans had a victory margin of just two goals. Canada finished third.

Britannia, Ruled!: Ivies Help U.S. Into FIL Final
A strong Ivy League contingent was once again in full-force as the United States ripped England, 20-3, to advance to the finals of the 2009 FIL Women's World Cup. With six goals from the Ancient Eight, the Americans earned a title date with Australia, which outlasted Canada, 12-10.

Seven Ivies in Action at FIL Women's World Cup
Seven women with ties to the Ivy League either as players or as coaches are in action in Prague, Czech Republic for the Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup. Five of the seven were in action as top-seeded USA defeated defending champion Australia, 10-9, in pool play.

Cornell's Tambroni Named USILA Coach of the Year
After taking his team within seconds of a national title, Cornell head men's lacrosse coach Jeff Tambroni has won the Morris Touchstone Award as the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s Coach of the Year.

Tiger's Schwab Named IWLCA Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Kristin Schwab of the Princeton women’s lacrosse team has been named the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Scholar-Athlete of the Year, it was announced by the organization.

Bill Tierney Leaves Princeton to Take Head Job at Denver
After 22 seasons, 14 Ivy League titles and six NCAA championships, Bill Tierney has resigned as head coach of Princeton men's lacrosse to take the same position at the University of Denver.

Ivies Fare Well in Women's Lacrosse Awards
The IWLCA and US Lacrosse have honored 48 student-athletes in Division I with a selection on one of the All-American teams. Six student-athletes, including two first-team selections, lead the charge for the Ivy League. The League also had 20 players selected to IWLCA Regional teams for the 2008-09 season.

Cornell senior men's lacrosse player Max Seibald has been named the winner of the 2009 Tewaaraton Trophy, the premier award in collegiate lacrosse. He becomes Cornell’s first recipient of the award.

Brown Lax Season Ends in Heartbreaker
Brown and Johns Hopkins battled toe-to-toe for 60 minutes, but the Blue Jays scored 36 seconds into overtime to lead Hopkins to a 12-11 win over the Bears in the first round of the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship.

In Columbia' s only game of the week, goalkeeper Emma Mintz had an outstanding performance, helping the Lions to an 11-10 win at Harvard. The senior co-captain had seven key saves, en route to Columbia's first conference win since 2005.

Ivy Weekly Men's Lacrosse Awards 9 - 4/20
Cornell's John Glynn did just about everything for the Big Red in their huge win over No. 1 Princeton, as the senior won 13-of-18 faceoffs while adding a career-high 11 ground balls to lead Cornell to at least a share of its seventh straight Ivy title.

Penn Women's Lacrosse Takes Third Title in Succession
After a slow start against Brown, Penn unleashed a flurry of second half goals to defeat the Bears and finish off a third straight undefeated League campaign, 14-4. The Quakers have won 22 consecutive Ivy contests, which ties the conference's longest streak in nearly 20 years.

Princeton senior Tommy Davis scored six goals with two assists in a pair of wins versus Penn and No. 15 Harvard, including the game-winner in overtime against the Quakers to help lift the Tigers to its first No. 1 ranking since 2001.

Ivy Weekly Women's Lacrosse Awards 6 - 4/6
Senior Holly McGarvie was Princeton’s leading scorer this week as the Tigers improved to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in conference. McGarvie scored four goals and added four assists on the week. She also led the team with nine draw controls, seven ground balls and seven caused turnovers.

Cornell's Chris Finn (pic.) scored a career-high four goals, including the game-winner, as the Big Red picked up a huge one-goal win over Harvard; while Princeton freshman goalie Tyler Fiorito used a career-high 15 saves to shut down No. 2 Syracuse.

Ivy Weekly Women's Lacrosse Awards 5 - 3/30
Goalkeeper Julie Wadland had a tremendous week for Dartmouth, winning two contests including a dominant 16-1 victory over Ivy opponent Brown that saw the junior face 15 shots. The win marked the fewest goals allowed by the Big Green in six years and lowered Wadland's GAA in League games to 3.50.

Princeton senior midfielder Rich Sgalardi had arguably the best week of his career, scoring five goals to go along with four assists in two big Tiger wins.

Sophomore Jess Halpern continues to dominate on offense for the Crimson. In a split week, she scored 10 goals and assisted on another for a total of 11 points. On the season, Halpern leads the League with 28 goals.

Cornell freshman Rob Pannell, who leads the nation in both points and assists per game, was spectacular again in leading the Big Red attack in huge wins over No. 8 Duke and Yale.

Brown All-American goalie Jordan Burke (pic.) posted an incredible 20 saves in a tough one-goal win, while Yale senior Michael Karwoski scored five goals, including the overtime game-winner to beat Penn in the Ivy opener.

Princeton goalkeeper Erin Tochihara had another great game in net for the Tigers. Coming off of a one-goal loss to Duke in which she made a career-high 16 saves, the sophomore stopped 13 shots in a 9-7 win over No. 15 Penn State, earning the Defensive Player of the Week.

Princeton junior Paul Barnes (pic.) was dominant in face-offs, keying the Tigers with 20-of-25 wins in a tough 6-5 win over No. 8 UMBC, while Brown's Andrew Feinberg scored six goals and three assists in a 2-0 week for the Bears.

Penn's Courtney Lubbe had a monster game by putting up five goals and three assists for the Quakers against No. 9 North Carolina. Her efforts led to an 11-2 win as the Penn women's lacrosse team remains undefeated on the year.

Ivy League Announces Lacrosse Tournaments in 2010
Ivy League Executive Director Jeff Orleans announced today that the Ivy League will begin four-team tournaments to determine the Ivy League’s automatic qualifying institutions to the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Championships. The tournaments will begin in spring 2010.

Host of Ivy Laxmen Earn Preseason All-America Nod
A total of 14 Ivy men's lacrosse players have been named to the 2009 Inside Lacrosse Preseason All America Team. Four Ivies were named to the first team, including Ivy Player of the Year Jordan Burke (pic.) of Brown and the Cornell trio of Max Seibald, John Glynn and Matt Moyer.

Brower is IWLCA Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year
Penn Women’s lacrosse head coach Karin Brower was named the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year. She led the Quakers to a 17-2 record and a National runner-up finish in 2008.

Anne Phillips Named Yale Women's Lacrosse Head Coach
Anne Phillips, who led Franklin & Marshall to an NCAA Championship and was the IWLCA Division III National Coach of the Year in 2007, has been named Yale's Joel E. Smilow, Class of 1954 Head Coach of Women's Lacrosse.

Penn's Waxman Named Goalkeeper of the Year (Again!)
Senior goalkeeper Sarah Waxman was named the C. Markland Kelly Goalie of the Year for the second consecutive season. The First-Team All-American received the honor at the IWLCA's annual awards banquet in King of Prussia, Pa.

Northwestern Stops Quaker Movement for NCAA Title
At the half in the Women's Lacrosse National final, Northwestern led Penn by a 5-2 margin. In the history of the tournament no team had ever come back from such a half-time deficit, but the Ivy champions launched a furious offensive in order to change that fact. In the end, Northwestern weathered the storm and turned back the Quakers for the NCAA title, 10-6.

Sailer, Starsia to Join National Lacrosse Hall of Fame
Current Princeton women's coach Chris Sailer (pictured) and former Brown player and coach Dom Starsia, now head coach at Virginia, have been selected to the eight-person induction class of 2008 for the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Penn Earns Shot at Title in Women's Lacrosse
Down by three goals with 18 minutes to go, Penn rallied to take the lead in the National semifinal with just over five minutes remaining. After Duke forced overtime, Rachel Manson fired the Quakers into the National title game with 42 seconds remaining in double overtime, 9-8.

All-Ivy Women's Lacrosse (2008)
After running the table in the Ivies for the second straight season, the Penn women's lacrosse team placed six players on the 2008 All-Ivy teams. Senior goalkeeper Sarah Waxman was named the Player of the Year — the first Quaker to receive the honor since 1989.

All-Ivy Men's Lacrosse (2008)
Brown goalie Jordan Burke becomes the first Bear to win Ivy Player of the Year since 1995, while Princeton freshman Jack McBride becomes the third Tiger in the last five years to take home Rookie of the Year honors.

Cornell Earns Ivy Automatic NCAA Bid
With Brown’s 6-5 victory over Princeton this afternoon, the No. 8 Cornell men’s lacrosse team became the Ivy League’s automatic qualifier for the NCAA tournament by virtue of its victory over co-champs Brown last weekend.

Brown Earns Share of Ivy Crown
Brown downed Princeton in men's lacrosse on Saturday to claim a share of the Ivy League Championship, its first Ivy title since 1995. The Bears won 10 of their last 11 regular season games to finish tied with Cornell at 5-1 in Ivy play.

Red and Blue Repeat in Women's Lacrosse
The No. 6 Penn women's lacrosse team downed its rival and No. 2-ranked Princeton, 9-5 to clinch a share of the Ivy League title. The Tigers entered the game with an undefeated record and the pride of a win streak over the Quakers in Princeton that lasted for more than two decades. Both are no more. The Quakers also secured an NCAA automatic bid.
