Lou Bender Inducted into NYC Basketball Hall of Fame

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Former Columbia basketball standout Lou Bender '32 was officially inducted into the New York Basketball Hall of Fame, in a ceremony that took place this past week at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan.
Bender, along with Columbia Athletics Hall of Famer George Gregory, helped lead the Columbia teams of the early 1930s to consecutive Eastern Intercollegiate League titles.
A three-time All-Metropolitan selection and a two-time All-American, the 98-year-old Bender was on hand for the induction into the legendary Hall of Fame along with more recent stars, including Kenny Anderson, Rod Strickland, Sam Perkins and former Virginia and Providence coach Pete Gillen.
