KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Eight Ivy League men’s
basketball players were named to the National Association of
Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court, recognizing those
collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics
during the 2009-10 season.
Brown led all NCAA Division I teams with six honorees -- graduated
seniors Steve Gruber and Matt
Mullery and rising seniors Garrett
Leffelman, Peter Sullivan, Chris
Taylor and Adrian Williams -- and Harvard
boasted graduated seniors Pat Magnarelli and
Doug Miller to the list.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that
men’s basketball players possess off the court, and the hard
work they exhibit in the classroom. In order to qualify for the
honors court, the student-athlete must be an upperclassman and
carry a 3.2 gpa or higher at the conclusion of the 2009-2010
academic year, and play for an NCAA or NAIA institution.
All six Brown players were major contributors for the Bears, with
each player earning a starting role during the season, while Miller
started all 29 games for the Crimson and Magnarelli saw time in 21
games.
