Harvard Earns First-Ever Postseason NIT Bid

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- After setting a program record with 23 victories, the Harvard men's basketball team returns to the postseason for the second straight season and will face Oklahoma State in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) Tuesday evening. The game, which will be shown live nationally on ESPN, will be played in Stillwater, Okla., 7:30 p.m. EST.

The Crimson (23-6), which played in the Tournament last year, finished as Ivy League co-champion during the 2010-11 campaign, as the team won its first conference crown. Harvard went 12-2 in conference play, establishing a new program best for Ivy wins, and posted a perfect home record at Lavietes Pavilion (14-0).

Oklahoma State went 19-13 overall and posted a 6-10 mark in the Big 12 conference. The Cowboys fell to No. 2 Kansas, 63-62, in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament March 10.

Harvard's inclusion in the NIT marks the  ninth time an Ancient Eight school has participated in the tournament. Brown last represented the Ivy League in the NIT in 2003.

Harvard earned four selections to the All-Ivy team, including Keith Wright, the Ancient Eight Player of the Year. Wright, a unanimous choice to the All-Ivy League first team, was joined by Kyle Casey and Brandyn Curry on the second team, while Christian Webster garnered all-conference honorable mention.
