Men's Basketball Weekend Wrap-Up for Feb. 4-5

Princeton edged Harvard in an Ivy League men's basketball showdown at Jadwin Gym between the top two teams while Brown's Sean McGonagill had a career night in the Bears' win against Columbia on Friday night. Saturday night saw the Crimson outlast Penn in a double-overtime thriller and Yale fight off a Columbia comeback to hold on for a weekend sweep. Check out this weekend's wrap-up:

PHILADELPHIA -- The Quakers used a stifling defense and shot lights out as they routed Dartmouth 78-47 in the Palestra on Friday night.

PRINCETON, N.J. -- In a battle of Ivy-unbeaten teams, Princeton's men's basketball team took control in the second half Friday night against Harvard, defeating the Crimson 65-61.

Brown 87, Columbia 79

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Brown freshman guard Sean McGonagill exploded for a career high 39 points, including 28 points in the second half, to tie the Pizzitola Sports Center scoring record and lead the Bears to an 87-79 Ivy League win over Columbia.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- There probably weren't many fans in the John J. Lee Amphitheater on Friday who thought the Bulldogs were going to win when they trailed Cornell by eight points with three minutes remaining. James Jones, The Joel E. Smilow, Class of 1954 Head Coach still believed, and his faith was rewarded. Austin Morgan's three-point play with 12 seconds left capped a stunning comeback as Yale escaped with a thrilling 71-70 victory over the Big Red.

PRINCETON, N.J. -- A night after dealing Harvard its first loss in Ivy League play, the Princeton men's basketball team kept on going Saturday night at Jadwin Gym, defeating Dartmouth 68-53.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Cornell put six players in double figures to hand head coach Bill Courtney his first Ivy League win, a 91-79 victory over Brown on Saturday evening at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

Yale 72, Columbia 67

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Yale didn't need any last-minute heroics to knock off Columbia on Saturday. The Bulldogs, who rallied from a 10-point deficit in the final two minutes in Friday's win over Cornell, built a 16-point halftime lead in a 72-67 victory before 1,365 at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
