Men's Basketball Weekend Preview for Feb. 3-4
PRINCETON, N.J. -- The first weekend in February brings the first full compliment of Friday-Saturday games for Ivy League men's basketball.
League-leading Harvard and Dartmouth host Columbia and Cornell. The Crimson is looking to move to 6-0 to start Ivy play for the first time in school history and add to its program-record 23-game home winning streak. Harvard's streak is the fourth-longest streak currently in NCAA Division I men's basketball behind Kentucky (47), Ohio State (38) and North Carolina (30).
Harvard is off to the best start of an Ivy League school since Princeton in 1997-98 (19-1). Harvard's 18-2 start is also the best for the program since going 19-1 to begin the 1945-46 campaign.
Entering the weekend, Penn is the only other team undefeated in Ivy play. The Quakers are looking for a sweep of the Yale-Brown road trip for the third time in four years. Penn has won seven of its last nine meetings with Yale and five of its last six matchups with Brown. The Quakers are on fire entering February with wins in their last four games and offensive outputs of 80 or more points in their last two games.
