Yale's Mangano Contributes as Team USA Advances to World University Games Semifinals

SHENZHEN, China -- Yale rising senior Greg Mangano has seen action in four of the five games for USA Basketball's World University Games Team, which has advanced to the medal round to face Lithuania in the semifinals.

Mangano saw action in Team USA's first four games, averaging 4.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, 1.0 steals ands 10.5 minutes per game. His most productive output came in Team USA's first game against Mexico, connecting on four of eight field goal attempts with eight rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 14 minutes of action.

As group Group D’s. No.1 seed, the USA will take on Lithuania (4-1), the No. 2 seed from Group C in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. (all times listed are China Standard Time, which is +12 hours from Eastern Time) on Aug. 20, following a day off for all teams on Aug. 19. The semifinals are scheduled for Aug. 21, and the finals will be played on Aug. 22.

Team USA reached the semifinals on convincing wins over Mexico (108-67), Hungary (102-53), South Korea (112-68) and Finland (124-64) and a hard-fought victory over Israel (94-84) to close out group play.
