PRINCETON, N.J. -- The 2012-13 season opens with all eight schools in action to tip off the 57th official season of Ivy League men's basketball.

57TH SEASON OF IVY LEAGUE MEN'S BASKETBALL
The 2012-13 season is officially the 57th season of Ivy League men's basketball. Although the League's official founding was February 1954, the first year of athletics competition was the 1956-57 season.

POSTSEASON FIRST
The Ivy League enters the 2012-13 season coming off a benchmark season in which it sent four teams --- Harvard (NCAA), Penn and Princeton (College Basketball Invitational) and Yale (CollegeInsider.com Tournament) -- to the postseason for the first time in conference history.

20-WIN SEASONS
In each of the last three seasons, the Ivy League has boasted two or more 20-win teams. Last season marked just the second time in League history that three teams made it to the 20-win plateau with the first occurrence coming just two seasons ago:

THE IVIES VERSUS...
The Ivy League enters the 2012-13 season coming off posting back-to-back regular seasons with a .500 or better non-conference record for the first time since the 1969-70 (49-39, .557) and 1970-71 (46-45, .505) seasons.

Last season, Ancient Eight teams combined for a winning record in non-conference play for the first time since the 2001-02 season when the League's non-conference mark during the regular season was 62-51 (.549).
