PRINCETON, N.J. -- Ivy League men's basketball celebrates the holidays with a week full of hoops cheer that has Ancient Eight teams playing 11 games before Christmas.

Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Penn and Yale all are back in action after end-of-the-semester breaks for final exams. Cornell competes in a pair of nationally-televised games on ESPNU at Vanderbilt and Duke. Brown also takes on a BCS conference foe, traveling back to the Chicago area to take on Northwestern.

Columbia and Yale, along with Harvard and Princeton, enjoy some home cooking going into Christmas while Dartmouth continues its month-long road swing and Penn plays Delaware for the second time this season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Princeton senior forward Ian Hummer (Vienna, Va.) stuffed the box score once again and almost sent the game into overtime in the Tigers' 63-60 loss to Fordham in the Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival at the Barclays Center. He posted a team-high 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks and a steal as Princeton went on a 12-0 run to gain a 10-point advantage in the second half. Fordham fought back with a 17-4 run of its own to grab a three-point lead with 1.2 seconds remaining. That left enough time to set up Hummer for a game-tying three-pointer that caught the rim but did not go in.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Harvard freshman guard Siyani Chambers (Golden Valley, Minn.) scored the game-winning basket with only four seconds left in the Crimson’s 65-64 victory over Boston University. Chambers tied his career-high with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting. He also went 3-of-6 from downtown and was 4-of-4 from the foul line, while dishing out five assists. Chambers has been perfect from the charity stripe in his last 32 attempts.
