Harvard is making the 71st NCAA Tournament appearance for an Ivy League team and the 57th for the League since its first official season. The Crimson is in the postseason for the fifth-straight year -- 2009-10 (CIT), 2010-11 (NIT), 2011-12 (NCAA), 2012-13 (NCAA) and 2013-14 (NCAA) -- which is the longest streak since Penn advanced to seven-straight postseasons from 1995-96 to 2001-02. Over that stretch, the Quakers made the NCAA Tournament in 1995-96, 1996-97, 1997-98 and 2000-01 and the NIT in 1998-99, 1999-2000 and 2001-02. Ivy League teams have combined for a 41-80 (.342) record in 70 NCAA Tournament appearances since 1938-39. Since the 1956-57 season, the Ivy League has a 32-60 (.352) record in 56 appearances.

The Crimson's upset victory over New Mexico in last year's tournament marked its first postseason win as the team was previously was 0-3 in the NCAA Tournament (1945-46 and 2011-12), 0-1 in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (2009-10), 0-1 in the Ivy League Playoff (2010-11) and 0-1 in the Postseason NIT (2010-11). It was the first victory for an Ivy League school as a No. 14 seed in the NCAA Tournament. League teams had previously captured wins in the Big Dance as Nos. 5, 9, 11, 12 and 13 seeds.
