WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- All eight Ivy League men's rowing crews ascend on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. this weekend for the 112th Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships.
The League looks to keep its stranglehold in the lightweight
competition having captured 23 of 24national championships since
1990, including the last nine in a row -- Yale (2005 and 2011), Cornell (2006-08), Princeton
(2009-10) and Harvard (2012-13). This year's field sets up for the
Ancient Eight to once again have the best lightweight eight
comprising six of the eight varsity eight boats competing.
All eight heavyweight crews have their sights on the Varsity Challenge Cup and Ten Eyck Trophy with the goal of bringing the national title back to the conference for the first time since Harvard won three straight from 2003-05.
