PRINCETON, N.J. -- Ivy League men's and women's rowing teams get underway with the first races of the spring this weekend.
Yale heavyweights open at home on the Housatonic River against Brown on the men's side, while Penn hosts Saint Joseph's and George Washington on the Schuylkill River and Columbia competes at Florida Tech with Barry in the Governor's Cup on the women's side.
The schedules throughout the remainder of March heat up with all the men's lightweight and heavyweight and women's crews hitting the water.
Once again, the Ivy titles will be decided on the same day. On May 18, the men's regular-season slate culminates with the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges (EARC) Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. The eight women's crews return to the Cooper River for the Ivy League Championship.
League crews move on from those races to national championship regattas on May 30-June 1. The 112th Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships are ser for Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J. The 2014 NCAA Women's Rowing Championships are back at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis.
The 149th edition of the Harvard-Yale Regatta on the Thames River in New London, Conn., is scheduled for June 7.
