Ivy Fencing Teams Set for NCAA Regional Action This Weekend

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The seven women's teams and six men's teams in the Ivy League are set for action this weekend at NCAA regional sites in Easton, Pa. and Queens, N.Y.

Penn and Princeton will participate with 11 other teams in the Mid-Atlantic/South Regional on the campus of Lafayette College on Saturday. Harvard, Cornell, Columbia, Yale and Brown will join 12 other teams at the Northeast Regional on the St. John's campus on Sunday. ESPN3 will have select coverage of the action from St. John's beginning at 3:30 p.m.

The Ivy League teams are well represented in the latest CollegeFencing360.com polls, which were released this week. On the men's side, Harvard, fresh off its Ivy League Round-Robins title, is tied for third with St. John's. The Crimson moved up for spots from the last poll at the beginning of the month. Princeton is fifth, Columbia seventh and Penn eighth. Yale and Brown also received votes. 

On the women's side, Princeton, which dominated the field on the way to its Ivy League Round-Robins title last weekend, is ranked second in the new poll. Columbia is third, while Harvard is seventh and Penn is 10th. Cornell, Brown and Yale also received votes.  

The Mid-Atlantic/South site features four top-10 men's squads in No. 1 Penn State, No. 5 Princeton, No. 8 Penn and No. 9 Duke and four top-10 women's squads in No. 2 Princeton, No. 6 Penn State, No. 9 Temple and No. 10 Penn. 

The Northeast site features three top-10 squads on each side. The men's side will have No. 3 Harvard and No. 3 St. John's along with No. 7 Columbia. The women's side has No. 3 Columbia, No. 5 St. John's and No. 7 Harvard. 

Other regionals will be held this weekend in South Bend, Ind. and San Diego, Calif.
