SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- Division I PING All-Region teams were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday and the Northeast Region squad included six Ivy League student-athletes. A total of 155 players across six regions - Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West - earned All-Region honors for 2012.

Dartmouth led the Ivy League with two players earning All-Northeast Region honors, including 2012 Ivy League medalist and Player of the Year Peter Williamson. Williamson, a senior, was joined on the team by Big Green junior James Pleat. Yale sophomore Sam Bernstein, Harvard senior Tony Grillo, Penn sophomore Max Marsico and Columbia junior Michael Yiu were also named to the Northeast Region team.

Williamson never finished lower than fifth in any tournament during his senior campaign, winning three and placing second in four others. He won the Ivy title by eight strokes, marking his third Ivy League title - becoming just the second golfer in the history of the League to accomplish the feat. He also earned his third Ivy League Player of the Year honor, and earned All-Ivy honors for the fourth time. Williamson is only the ninth player to earn All-Ivy honors four times. Only 12 golfers bested his score in a tournament for this entire season. He ended his career at Dartmouth with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Central Regional. Williamson also earned all-region honors last season.

For the first time in his career, Pleat earned All-Region honors. He tied for 11th at the Ivy League Championship, missing out on All-Ivy honors by one spot. Pleat finished in the top-10 in three tournaments during the 2011-12 season, with his best finish coming at the Macdonald Cup on Oct. 2 when he tied for seventh.

Playing in nine tournaments in 2011-12, Bernstein posted several notable performances including finishing second at the Macdonald Cup, placing third at the Ivy League Championship and tying for fourth at both the Adams Cup and the Classic at Shelter Harbor. He posted a 73.8 stroke average in tournament play and posted a low round of 67. Last year he was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year and then he earned first-team All-Ivy for his performance at the 2012  Ivy League Championship.

Grillo, a two-time captain of the Crimson, also earned PING all-region honors as a sophomore in 2010. As a senior, Grillo received All-Ivy League second team accolades. Grillo also earned second-team All-Ivy honors during his sophomore season. He tied for seventh at the 2012 Ivy League Championship, helping the Crimson place fourth as a team. During the 2011-12 season, Grillo also finished tied for sixth (213) at the Princeton Invitational and came in tied for fourth (148) at the Century Intercollegiate.

Marsico, who earned the All-Region honor for the second time in his career, played in all 11 tournaments for the Quakers in 2011-12 and posted a team-low 73.4 stroke average in 25 tournament rounds. He was Penn's low scorer seven times, including the NCAA South Central Regional in Bowling Green, Ky. At the Ivy League Championship, his birdie on the third playoff hole allowed the Penn to defeat Dartmouth and gain the Ivy League's automatic bid into the NCAA regionals. Marsico was an individual medalist at two events this spring including the George Washington Invitational and the Navy Spring Invitational, in both cases helping Penn win the team title as well. In the fall, he tied for first place at the season-opening Maryland Intercollegiate, shooting three sub-70 rounds.

Yiu, who was named to the PING All-Northeast Region team for the second straight season, is coming off a junior campaign in which he posted a career-best 73.45 stroke average in nine events. He earned first-team All-Ivy honors, marking the second time in his three-year Columbia career he has received all-conference accolades. Yiu posted three top-five finishes on the season, including a second-place showing at the 2012 Ivy League Championship when he shot an eight-over par 221. He also tied for fifth at the Cornell Invitational and tied for fourth at The Classic at Shelter Harbor.
