SPRINGFIELD, N.J. -- Harvard and Dartmouth each shot 299 on the day to co-hold the lead after 18 holes at Baltusrol Golf Club in the 2014 Ivy League Men's Golf Championship.
Dartmouth's Scott Jaster is tied for the individual lead after carding an even-par 70 on Friday. He and Brown's Nelson Hargrove were the only two rounds of par or better on the day to sit atop the leaderboard.
Jaster bounced back after a bumpy start. He bogeyed the first two holes to start the day two-over, but then settled in. He birdied Nos. 8 and 13, a pair of Par-4's, to pull himself back to even on the day.
Hargrove, playing in the group in front of Jaster, got out fast with birdies on Nos. 1 and 3. He followed that, however, with bogeys on Nos. 4 and 5, then responded with a birdie at No. 6. After four straight pars, he bogeyed at No. 11 and birdied No. 12. Sitting at one-under, Hargrove bogeyed the 570-yard 17th-hole and closed out with par at No. 18 to finish even for the day.
Harvard's Theordore Lederhausen and Kendrick Vinar shot rounds of 72 and 73, respectively, to lead The Crimson.
Defending champion Princeton is in seventh place, nine shots off the pace.
Saturday's second round begins at 11:30 am with tee times off of No. 1.
