Penn Joins Second-Seeded Cornell in NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship Field
INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Committee announced the field for the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship on Sunday evening and Cornell and Penn were named to the 16-team field.
Cornell, fresh off an undefeated Ivy League regular-season and an Ivy tournament championship win on Sunday afternoon to clinch an automatic invite, earned the No. 2 overall seed and will play host to Hartford. Hartford and Cornell will meet at Schoellkopf Field on Saturday, May 14, at 7:30 p.m. in a game that will be televised live on ESPNU. The Big Red are set to play in the NCAA tournament for the eighth consecutive year and for the 24th time overall.
The Quakers earned an at-larger berth and will travel to No. 4 seed Notre Dame. The teams will play on Saturday, May 14 at 2:30 p.m. in Notre Dame, Ind., and ESPNU will televise it live. Penn is making its first appearance in the NCAAs since 2006 and its 12th overall.
