PRINCETON, N.J. -- The 56th season of Ivy League men's lacrosse gets underway this weekend with the seven Ivy teams playing a full slate of non-conference games.
Action begins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 when No. 17/17 Penn plays at No. 8/10 Duke. The Blue Devils enter Friday night's game with a 1-1 record on the year, having opened the season with a 16-8 home win over Rutgers but then dropping a 7-3 decision at then ninth-ranked Notre Dame.
On Saturday, Feb. 25, five more Ivy League teams open their seasons. The games begin at noon when No. 15/14 Harvard plays host to Vermont, who enters the game with a 0-1 record after falling by the score of 10-6 at 19th-ranked Colgate in its season opener.
Next up on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., Dartmouth plays at No. 19/20 Colgate, who carries a 2-0 mark into the game including a 10-8 win over Bryant to go with its victory over the Catamounts. Also at 1:00 p.m., No. 14/19 Princeton welcomes No. 13/15 Hofstra and No. 3/5 Cornell plays at Hobart. Hofstra is 1-0 on the year, having posted an 11-9 home win over Sacred Heart to open its season. Hobart opened the year with a 13-11 loss to Siena.
Saturday's final Ivy game starts at 1:30 p.m. when No. 18/18 Yale plays host to St. John's, which opened the year with a 17-7 home win over Holy Cross.
Brown then closes the opening weekend for the Ivies on Sunday, Feb. 26 when it travels south to face Quinnipiac in a noon game that will be each team's season-opening contest.
