PRINCETON, N.J. –- The 56th season of Ivy League soccer begins this weekend as all eight Ivy League schools open their respective schedules with non-conference games. Brown University has the honor of kicking things off for the Ivies as the Bears open the season with a 3:30 p.m. match on Friday, Sept. 3 versus Bryant University in the first round of the inaugural Ocean State Soccer Classic. In the semifinal round of the four-team tournament, Brown will then play host to the consolation and championship matches on Monday, Sept. 6. Elsewhere on Friday, the Penn Quakers open their season with local bragging rights on the line as they face Saint Joseph’s at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Sept. 4 the remaining six Ivy League teams open their respective seasons, highlighted by #10 Harvard hosting #13 Stanford in one of the nation’s first marquee matchups of the 2010 season. Saturday’s other matches include Columbia at Sacred Heart, Cornell at Long Island University, Yale at #22 Connecticut, Dartmouth playing host to Holy Cross and Princeton traveling to Fairleigh Dickinson. Penn rounds out the opening weekend of play when it hosts La Salle on Sunday, Sept. 5.
