Brown Joins Dartmouth in the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship Field

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Ivy League Co-Champions Dartmouth and Brown have advanced to the 48-team NCAA Championship field it was announced by the NCAA Division I men's soccer selection committee on Monday afternoon.
The Big Green earned the League's automatic bid over Brown via a tie-breaker because it defeated third-place Columbia (2-0 at home on Oct. 22) and the Bears lost at third-place Columbia (2-1 in 2 OT on Oct. 1). Brown then joined the 48-team field as an at-large selection.
At least two Ivy teams have now made the NCAA Men's Soccer
Championship field for seven consecutive seasons, a streak that
began in 2005. Last season, four Ivy League teams made the
tournament, including Dartmouth and Brown, who each advanced to the
third round.
Both Dartmouth and Brown will play NCAA first round games on
Thursday, Nov. 17 in Providence, R.I. The Big Green play at Big
East foe Providence College at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon,
while the Bears welcome America East opponent Fairfield to
Stevenson Field at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening.
Dartmouth is making its fifth consecutive NCAA Championship
appeearance and its seventh in the last eight years. The Bears are
making their 26th NCAA Championship appearance overall, and its
sixth in the last seven years.
Were the Big Green to advance, it would play at 15th-seeded UC
Santa Barbara in second round play. A Brown win would see the Bears
play at ninth-seeded St. John's. Both NCAA second round contests
would be played on Sunday, Nov. 20.
