Wong, Cao Fall in Singles at NCAA Tennis Championships

ATHENS, Ga. -- Columbia's Jonathan Wong and Harvard's Holly Cao both fell in the opening round of the singles tournament Wednesday afternoon at the 2010 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia.

Northwestern's Maria Mosolova defeated Cao, 6-3, 1-6, 6-1. After falling in the opening set, Cao took control of the second frame. She jumped out to a 2-1 lead and never looked back en route to a 6-1 victory. The two sides traded points to open the third set, but Mosolova took control and came away with a 6-2 win. Cao closed out her spring campaign with a 15-4 overall record.

Wong concluded his collegiate tennis career with a loss to Tulsa???s Ashley Watling, who holds a national ranking of No. 60, 6-3, 6-2. Wong graduated from Columbia College in early May, with a degree in economics and is the only player in Columbia tennis history to lead the team to three Ivy League championship titles, including the team's back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010.
