Men's Tennis Embarks on Busy Weekend Schedule
PRINCETON, N.J. -- It is a busy weekend on the
courts for Ivy League men's tennis with all Seven teams competing
in two tournaments.
Harvard is hosting its three-day Fall Chowda Fest, featuring
feature three-time defending national champion USC, Texas A&M
and Michigan, along with the host Crimson. Competitors from Brown,
Columbia, Dartmouth, Penn, Princeton and Yale will be competing at
the 2011 USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center Men's College
Invitational in Flushing, N.Y.
Cornell is idle until Oct. 8-9 when the Big Red hosts Yale, Army and Binghamton at the Reis
Tennis Center.
A LOOK BACK
Once again, there was a strong Ivy League presence at the the Farnsworth/Princeton Invitational, taking home
titles in three singles and two doubles draws.
Cornell's Jason Luu (C flight) and Kyle
Berman (E) and Penn's Jeremy Court (D)
won their respective flights while Yale's Marc
Powers, the second-seed in the A singles bracket, fell in
the final for a second-straight year, this time a straight-set loss
to St. John's Vasco Mladenov. In doubles, the
League took home two of the three flight titles with Powers teaming
with Daniel Hoffman for the A flight title on a
9-7 victory over Penn State's Russell Bader and
Bryan Welnetz and the Cornell duo of Alex
Sydney and Venkat Iyer defeated fellow
Ivies Matt Siow and Matt Spindler
of Princeton, 8-2. Results of flight final and consolation final

Dartmouth pulled double duty over the weekend with four Big Green
players competing at the Midland Racquet Club Invitational, earning
valuable experience against tough competition. Sophomore
Brandon DeBot won two matches in the consolation
draw. The Big Green faced highly ranked teams at the event
including Texas A&M, Texas, TCU, SMU, Tulsa, New Mexico,
Davidson, and Boise State.
