Men's Tennis Teams Hit the Courts to Open Fall Tournament Play

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Ivy League men's tennis
opens its 2013-14 season with seven teams in fall tournament
Princeton hosts the 45th Princeton/Farnsworth Invitational with players from League foes Columbia, Cornell, Penn and Yale, along with Binghamton, Bucknell, Buffalo, Fairleigh Dickinson, Georgetown, Monmouth, NYIT, St. John's and Temple, joining the host Tigers to compete in six singles flights and two doubles flights over the three-day event.
Harvard is also at home for its annual Chowder Fest tournament before heading on the road for a month. Brown opens the fall on its home courts as well with teams from around the Northeast coming to Providence, R.I., for the Brown Invitational.
Dartmouth is the lone Ivy squad idle on the opening weekend. The Big Green opens its fall slate next weekend in New Haven, Conn. at the Ivy Plus Tournament, which will feature most the League teams with others from around the area.

The Ancient Eight featured one singles player and one doubles team in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason rankings released on Sept. 6. Columbia junior Winston Lin was ranked 54th and Harvard's duo of senior Casey MacMaster and junior Denis Nguyen was tied for 20th in doubles.
