Uceny at Pan Am Games; More Cornellians to Follow
Tuesday, July 24, 2007
Morgan Uceny ('07, Cornell) introduced the Pan American Games to some hearty Ivy competition as she was entered in the first semifinal of the Women's 800 meter run.
Uceny earned her spot in the semifinal by virtue of a personal best at the United States Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. in June. Her time at that event was 2:01.75.
As a member of the United States team, the first team All-Ivy Leaguer ran a 2:04.13 time and found herself in fifth place against older and more seasoned International competition. Unfortunately, she missed out on the final.
More Cornellians will be in action as the Pan Am Games continue throughout the week as Emily McCabe ('06) - also a member of the United States team - will be featured in the Women's 10,000m final. Rayon Taylor ('07), Cornell's own collegiate national champion, is also slated to compete in the very discipline where he won an NCAA title - Men's triple jump. The native of Clifton, N.J., will be competing for his birth nation of Jamaica.
