PRINCETON, N.J. -- With the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships just three weeks away, a light weekend of action for Ivy cross country runners begins Friday when Columbia competes in the Metropolitan Conference Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

The women's 6K race begins at 2 p.m., followe by the men's 8K race at 2:45 p.m. Both the Lion men and women won the team titles at the meet in 2009, while Rutgers was the runner-up in both events.

On Saturday, Brown, Dartmouth and Yale are all in action at the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston. Featuring more than 52 teams, the men's race is the second oldest meet in the country, with this being the 124th year of the event. Brown's women claimed the team title in 2009 and will look to repeat the feat Saturday.
