CENTERVILLE, Mass. -- Two Crimson softball players were named to the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Softball All-Star Teams, led by Rookie of the Year honoree Kasey Lange. The coaches, or his/her designee, within the ECAC membership voted on the teams and individual awards.
Lange, Harvard's third baseman, led the candidates for this honor in batting average (.443), hits (70), doubles (20), and RBI (65). She led the Crimson in slugging percentage (.791) and on-base average (.484), helping the program to a record-breaking campaign that ended in an Ivy League championship. Lange was also named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Year and to the first team All-Ivy, both by a unanimous vote of the League's eight head coaches.
Lange earned second team ECAC All-Star honors along with senior second baseman Ellen Macadam. Macadam, the Ivy League Player of the Year and first team selection, batted .429 for the season, while lead the League in runs scored (52) and hits (76).
This is the latest in a string of postseason awards for the Crimson players who were both named to the 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Northeast Region Team. Macadam also earned 2011 Capital One Academic All-America® second team honors.
