TOWSON, Md. -- After leading the Harvard softball team to its first Ivy League Championship since 2007, Ellen Macadam has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America Softball Team, the organization announced Thursday. Macadam garnered second team honors, was the only player from District I on either the first or second teams, and was the only Ivy League player to earn Academic All-America accolades.
Macadam, a psychology concentrator, graduated Thursday with a 3.44 GPA. The Atlanta, Ga., native was a catalyst for the Crimson this season, leading the team to its fifth Ivy League Championship and setting school records in career runs scored (139) and hits (222). Macadam was also named Ivy League Player of the Year prior to the Ivy League Championship series, garnered first-team All-Ivy accolades and was recently named to the NFCA/Louisville Slugger all-region first team.
