CAMBRIDGE, Mass – Behind solid pitching and four home runs, Dartmouth swept Harvard, 8-2 and 9-2, to claim back-to-back Ivy League North Division Championships on Monday afternoon.
The Big Green will host Penn next weekend in the best-of-three series, with the winner earning the conference’s automatic berth to the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
The Ivy League Championship Series will be held at the Dartmouth Softball Park this coming weekend. The series is tentatively set for May 3 and 4 and will be streamed live on The Ivy League Digital Network. Saturday's doubleheader is tenatively set for 1 pm with a Sunday if necessary game also tenatively slated for 1 pm.
Led by homers from sophomores Katie McEachern and Morgan McCalmon and freshmen Chloe Madill and Maddie Damore, Dartmouth belted 23 hits in the twinbill.
Kristen Rumley earned the win in the opener and Morgan McCalmon earned the victory in the clincher for The Big Green (29-16, 18-2 Ivy).
Dartmouth swept Penn earlier this season in Hanover on April 5, 3-2 and 12-1. This will be a rematch of the 2013 Ivy League Championship Series, one in which the Quakers earned a 2-1 series win.
