Four Squads Open Softball Season This Weekend

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The 2014 softball season begins this weekend as four of the Anicent Eight open a new season with games in Virginia, Florida and Texas. 

Defending North Division champ Dartmouth is in Miami for a tournament at Florida International. The Big Green open with Florida International and North Florida on Friday.

Harvard will head to Fort Myers, Fla. for a tournament at Florida Gulf Coast. The Crimson face Eastern Michigan and Villanova on Friday. 

Columbia heads to the Lone Star State and will face North Dakota State and tournament host Houston on Friday. 

Yale opens on Saturday in Virginia Beach, Va. The Bulldogs face Wagner and Norfolk State in the first day of action. 

Penn is the defending League champion, winning the South Division and then taking the Ivy League Championship Series in three games over Dartmouth. The Quakers are slated to open on March 4 at home against city-rival Saint Joseph's.
