NCAA long jump qualifier Jeomi Maduka hasn't spent much time on the track leading up to this weekend's national track and field championships.

"I haven't been to practice this week," she said Wednesday. "I don't know how I'm going to do a national track meet."

While her opponents have been hitting the sand pits, the Cornell junior has been working on the hardwood with the Big Red women's basketball team as it prepares for Sunday's Ivy League title game and a chance to go to the NCAA tournament for the first time.

"I never thought the two would come together," she said, adding that she "tries not to think about" the physical toll.

She has split time between the sports for the past two years, competing in both track and basketball home events that fell on the same weekend.
