PRINCETON, N.J. -- Princeton junior forward Niveen Rasheed has been named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Midseason Watch List for the Women's National Player of the Year. Rasheed is the lone Ivy League representative on the list.
Since returning from a season-ending knee injury last year, Rasheed has been a dominant force for the Tigers. She's averaging a team-leading 16.7 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. The Danville, Calif. native has been instrumental in the Tigers' success this year, as Princeton (15-4 overall, 5-0 Ivy League) looks to earn their third consecutive Ivy League Championship and bid into the NCAA Tournament.
This year Rasheed has been named the Ivy League Player of the Year four times and boasts 961 career points. She's tallied eightdouble-doubles and has scored in double figures in 17 if 19 games played.
The Tigers, who look to extend their eight-game winning streak this weekend at Dartmouth and Harvard, are currently receiving votestowards a national ranking in both the AP Top-25 and ESPN/USA Today polls.
